I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Obviously not, but he has a place in the team. He's proved more than competent so far with the bat.

Styris is an odd case. He was our best bat at the World Cup, and the retired from tests to concentrate on making the next world cup and to allow other youngsters to come through.

He hasn't done too much since the last WC to show that he's worth keeping for the next one.

Oh yeah, right now Elliot should be in the team under our given circumstances because in my opinion he's a great back up player, a role filler. Styris and Flynn aren't really deserving their places in the team, but in a best possible scenario their positions would be filled by the likes of Fulton and McMillan anyway.

Hopefully a Hay or Broom will secure a spot or Flynn will come into his own though. Fults should be back soon.

I have never seen what the selectors see in Flynn. He hasn't shown enough to prove himself worthy. As has been said before Elliot looked very promising last time we saw him. It is another Bracewell thing.

He's a great back up player but he's just not a top player in my books. I admire the bloke but still wouldn't have him in my starting XI.
I'm pretty sure Wellington would argue with that, he's no doubt deserved of a place even look at his form over last two seasons of State Shield and then he carries the same form into the ODI series against England(weak opposition?) - sorry to say it but if anything Athlai is the back-up player here..
Elliott State Shield last two seasons
609 runs@55.36
33 wickets@21.36
10 catches

He wants to play.
We want him to play.

BUT the BCCI's stance on ICL means he can't and won't. Our board doesn't have the muscle or guts to go up against the BCCI, so unfortunately unless the ruling on ICL changes drastically soon. He will not play for the Black Caps again.
Damn, thats serious. Shocked at the fairly muted response by you Kiwis then on this issue then. ICC really need to show more power has the games leaders. This really is poor.

There was plenty of discussion from "us Kiwis" about it WHEN IT HAPPENED. There's no point in us wanking on about it almost a year down the track though.

That better have been some form of innuendo or I'll be furious. ;)

Don't get me wrong, he's right up there but he's a bit of a county journeyman esque player for me. Does enough to get the job done but not more than that.

A couple of days late, but so, so gun that Rasel [as predicted] would dominate the NZ top order! 3 for 23 in 10 overs, is just brilliant, Jamie How would be having nightmares of Syed I spose'.

The Amazing thing is he's only had the 1st ODI as match practice since May, he was pretty rusty in the 1st ODI but found his rhythm by the 2nd ODI.

If He could learn to bowl with the Old Ball he'd be a Main Stay in the Test Side. Wasim Akram told him he needs about a few more Yards to get the Ball to reverse. I haven't seen the ODIs' so I don't know if he added speed.

He's very effective with the New Ball though & Complements Mashrafe Beautifully in Limited Overs Cricket.

I think the Conditions in SA will help greatly next month, Hopefully he can have a crack at Tests over there but he'll be ordinary if gets to play Tests vs NZ @ Home

Right, come on boys tomorrow, make it count. The Chittagong wicket is supposed to be a little more conducive to batting. Imrul Kayes could replace either Mahmudullah or one of the pacemen. I'd prefer to keep it as it is though TBH, can never have enough spinners and I don't think Mahmudullah has ever really been treated fairly with the bat.

"The Chittagong pitch is made of brown clay and is expected to be slower, though firmer, than the Mirpur one"

From cricinfo.

If this pitch is any slower than the Mirpur one, then ball will never arrive.
