*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

None of them (apart from Lescott and maybe Wright-Philips) are good enough to represent England on a regular basis imho. They are all decent premiershi players, who do a good job for average clubs, none of them have shown anything to suggest they are good enough for International football thus far.
None are good enough to be first XI England players. But as i said these are the premiership pro's, that if another injury crisis (god forbid) to key players going as we have seen since WC 2006, occurs in 2010 these are the blokes who i would hope Capello looks at

Not the likes of Defoe, Downing, Bullard (ATM), Robinson. But then again on that list, the likes of Parker, Crouch, the two left-backs & Taylor (although the best natural left-midfield option in ENG, with Young around probably wouldn't make sense in the suggested 4-1-2-3 formation) aren't that safe emergency bets as i initially thought.

If Chelsea beat Man Utd at Stanford Bridge next week they will open a 9 point gap on Utd (with Utd having a game in hand). Huge game next week.

Chavs to have title won by Xmas for me.

ManUre look in desperate need of the Portuguese poseur. Without him they lack finesse.
That's massively premature.

I only watched the first half admittedly, but we were very good until then.

What we need is a new goalkeeper, as I've been saying for ages, VDS simply cannot be relied upon.

****ing gutted, but we'll a) beat them at OT, and b) finish above them still.

But Carrick was playing...Wasn't he? (didn't even know he was on the field until he 'limped off')...
I haven't seen the second half, but from all accounts we were **** then so kindly explain why there was such a disparity between our performances in the two halves?

That may be so, but a six point gap is a hell of a psychological boost for Liverpool who normally have about 4 points at this point. Hoping for a true 4-horse race this season, would be better

Everyone said this last year too, we have two more points than we did at this stage last year.

From what I've seen of Liverpool, they're not going to win the league. In fact second half today was probably the first time they've actually looked good (if indeed they actually did).

Not seen Chelsea's game either, but they're worrying me slightly more.

Yeah, you lost your third game last season as well to Citeh IIRC, don't recall Liverpool having six points on you though, could be wrong. They were top early on last year now that I think of it, after trouncing Derby.

I don't think it will be their year either, but they showed today that they can win without Torres, and against the European Champions no less. Arsenal sound like they hit a bit of form, not watched Chelsea yet but it sounds like they are good. It's obvious that United will have great runs of victories through the season, as such it could be a good season as a neutral.

They did have a good start to last year, they must have had six points on us I'd have thought given we only took two points from our first three. I certainly remember a lot of "this is Liverpool's year" bollocks from the media early on.

We still have a game in hand. If we lose to Chelsea and it's nine points with a game in hand, then I'm worried (although more worried about Chelsea than Liverpool). Big game next week.

You only have to hear that it's their year from the media. I hear it non-stop from everybody and have done for 17 years! And yeah, you're right that they had 10 points from 4, but they didn't have 6 on you as you had 5 points from your first 4 games last season (you didn't lose the game early on through the Super Cup). But yeah, 5 points, 6 points, not much different and I concede my earlier point.

Still think it sounds a lot at this early stage. Then again, I'm convinced we'll catch Oldham come (what) May so...

Chelsea were top draw again today fancy them, strongly, to win next week especially as they will probably have Drogba back against a Vidicless Utd. Reckon they will get Terry's red card repealed even if they don't Alex is decent replacement.

Also last season didn't u fluke that lucky win against Spurs in the 4th game then Ronaldo came back & the rest is history, any news on Ronaldo's return?

TBF you lot owed them some goalkeeping clangers the amount they have given you over the last few years.

Hmmm, Rob Green not actually doing himself any favours.

Just when I was all aboard the bandwagon to get him picked for England after James' iffy performance on Wednesday.

Well, according to Fergie he's fit and could have travelled today, not sure whether that was just a smokescreen though.

Scott Carson did well for WBA today, Green just looked so so average.
