He's looked ridiculously comfortable out there but the same old caution needs to be exercised before we get too carried away with him. Hope I'm not jinxing them but these two are picking Mendis so far and Sehwag is trying to dominate Murali early like the Aussies and is sort of succeeding. Murali yet to really land one.

Haha, it may yet happen.

Still, it was always a little over-optimistic that M and M would have a repeat performance.

If India pile up a big score here, it could be a reverse drubbing for SL and Kumble comes into his own.

Sehwag was lucky there, loose shot but Murali did him beautifully with the toppy.

You mean this?

21.6 Muralitharan to Sehwag, no run, beaten outside off. Sehwag, increasingly getting more and more ambitious, went for the big cover drive, the bat flashed inside the line and the top spinner managed to miss the outside edge and the off stump.

Is there still half an hour to lunch?

If there is and Sehwag's there, he'll get to the ton with a leg in the air.

Edit: was only about 5 to go when I posted, apparently. Bummer.

Great start for India though.

Mahela misses a chance off Sehwag. Huge, but at least we're even after giving him a life in the last match.

Lunch 151-0. Good stuff by these two, hopefully the pitch deteriorates big time over the next couple of days.

Sehwag misses out on a hundred before lunch but it's been a spectacular session for India. There is still a long way to go but I think what this session has done is to lift the psychological hangover from the last test. The other thing is that there were hints of turn there especially that one delivery from Mendis which spun vicously past Gambhir's bat. If the rest of the Indian batting can pile up the runs it should get interesting on day 3 and 4.

In this situation, best turn to Murali.

However, I would hope to see Mendis again at the other end after lunch (best give him another go and see how he does). Hope Murali really teases Sehwag into berserker mode too, as otherwise in the mood Sehwag seems to be in, another double or more is well on the cards. No point trying to contain him.

If Sehwag does keep going, SL may well be looking to the skies for the expected storms later in the test.

Interesting reading the cricinfo comments. Sehwag does seem to have the ability to survive and prosper against good spin bowling. Murali has had his moments against him in this short spell, but has still gone for 30 plus off his 6 overs despite a couple of opportunities.
