Kiefer through to final and back into world top 20. Watched the match and still not too impressed - a kind of inverse Roddick; when his serve isn't up to it, it's a feeble little hop and he's severely vulnerable on the return. Which Nadal will no doubt feast on. Going to put a flutter on less than 17 games if I get the chance.

Simon should be top 15 as well after this.

Yeah, if he reaches the semis in Cincinnati he will be. Should be easy enough

Needs to beat
r2: Becker
r3: Youzhny or Young (doubt Monfils bothers w/o partisan crowd)
r4: Ferrer or Čilić or Levine or Verdasco

Simply amazing is Rafa, although im tipping Federer to bat Djokovic in the final this week I think Rafa's time is here.

Federer very lucky to beat Ginepri this morning, I watched most of the first set and from what I've seen Fed's isn't really moving around the court that well. The ammount of times he was passed or beaten because he was caught in no man's land between the baseline and the net was worrying for him. Either he has fitness issues or he's unsure of his game plans and when he should come forward or stay back.

his net game is one that has retrogressed over the past few years as he has become more and more of a baseliner...he has managed to cover it up pretty well and i haven't seen anyone exploit it successfully other than nadal but if his confidence is down, then others might take advantage of it as well...

If there has ever been a consistent weakness in his game its that he has always missed quite a number of easy volley's. It's never been a problem because they happened at 40-0 or 40-15 but his net game is letting him down at crucial times these days.

Fed loses to Karlovic.:-O

Fairly big result, is this slump terminal?
Ouch. Depressing. Thought he'd got over things when he mauled Ginepri in the third.

Also, @ Cincinnati home page headline. ("Gulbis surprises Blake to reach QFs" - no, Blake losing is no surprise...).
