How much more does he have to do to prove some his critics wrong? Gambhir is India's best and most consistent ODI batsman at the moment.
He's no doubt India's best batsman on form, but a Sanath innings has a different requirement altogether. He's too crucial to risk for this.

Don't know why we have to replicate like for like though. Gambhir's perfectly capable of playing a big knock at a good rate while guys like Sehwag, Yuvi and Dhoni provide the explosiveness.

It's whether we can hold our nerve chasing a big total which is key for mine.
When you're talking of a flat pitch and a huge total, that's what you need. They talk of pressure on a chasing team, but this is what a chasing team needs to reverse the pressure on the fielders.

He played under this heat many a times than anyone out there... he knows how to handle it...

He is not a non-asian player to worry about it...
Doesn't really matter about that, he's not a young man anymore. While his fitness for a 39 year old is absolutely phenomenal, he still is 39 years old and not getting any younger. It's got to be tough on him, but he's an absolute champion and I'm sure he'll fight on.

Yep. agree 100%

But today after seeing his running between the wickets.. it seems as if 25 yr old is running..:)

Anyway, I would like him to save his energy and stay till the final overs, so that he can blast on to 194+ score...

Expecting Anwar's 1997 record to be broken today...

Still can't believe Praveen Kumar isn't playing. He's a significantly better ODI bowler than RP Singh but I can understand why RP has been selected ahead of him given his performances this series. Irfan Pathan though? After this series? On these pitches? Absolute madness.

He has looked good, hopefully he'll be used better than Murali Kartik was used by the captains of the past.
Dhoni being behind the stumps instead of Patel should help him out on that front. Hopefully he isn't forced to half his cricket against Australia either.
