Sri Lanka did this hiding players gimmick at the WC as well and look how that turned out (Not sure if that's what they're doing here, though).
Even though I called it soft, it looks like hiding Mendis till the final has worked. He's picked up 4 wickets.

I can officially say this guy is for real. Fantastic stuff he has. Turns both ways, goes up and down, and people have no clue. Very Jack Iverson like.

Really wish I'd bothered ordering this series on Setanta now, just for Mendis alone. I considered it but didn't bother due to the fact that it clashed with NZ v England and Aus v WI more times than not anyway but I'm regretting it.

Also not picking any of your best batsmen in the squad helps unleash a Mendis on you.
Have to wonder at this point how a Tendulkar (injured), Dravid or Ganguly may have played.

And have to wonder, why not go backfoot on this guy. The required RR was not high when he came on and playing him out was quite an option.

Interesting decision to take Mendis off - couple more overs and the game could've been over

I'd rather have him bowling to 2 guys new to the crease than come back when they're set

Agreed. Strange decision. Should have Murali and Mendis bowling in tandem.

I actually think it could be a continuation of Sri Lanka's strange policy of hiding their newer bowlers from the opposition whenever they think they can. If this was a WC final I have little doubt he'd be bowling.

This match reminds me of the 07 WC group match.

Sehwag dominating, goes out and India collapse.

Still can win this... can Uthappa prove his critics wrong?
