Crocker Joins Super League

This is a full-blown crisis.

The NRL is becoming a feeder comp.
Agree it's becoming a joke in that so often players are getting out of the last year or two years and moving over at 27 and 28. Crocker is a current International and should be in the peak of his career and he's going to England. Something has to be done.

I know, lets lower the salary cap. Man Denis Fitzgerald is a knob.

Round 11 Results

Mr Wright - 50
Boy Brumby - 48
Morgieb - 47
James90 - 47
Tozzer - 45
DCYE - 45
Burgey - 45
Clapo - 44
Simon - 44
Chaminda_00 - 42
99* - 40
Matteh - 33

Wright continues his solid run and stays on top thanks to a poor round from all barring Brumby, Burgey & Simon. BB was again the only person stupid enough (:p) to think that the Dragons could win, and well, umm...they did... I didn't include origin tips, as 4 people missed out IIRC (myself not included, I plain forgot).

Not Happy.

Warriors sign Kemp

Really like the bloke in the Broncos team. I guess it was expected with Falou moving here next year.
Wow, that is a massive coup for the Warriors. I bet they had to shell out some money as well. In other news Luke Lewis has managed to opt out of his agreement to join Souths to stay at Penrith for another four years on the basis that he has a very sick family member. I have never been to Sydney (not outside the airport), how far is the distance out to Penrith, I mean it isn't as though he is going to Townsville or Auckland to play for an NRL club. He was well within his rights as he had never signed a contract with Souths.

As regard to the salary cap, I'm no expert on economics, but is it possible to increase the salary cap? I don't hold anything against Crocker myself, he has done a lot for Melbourne and the offer was too good to refuse, and with his injury problems then fair enough. But there has to be something done to stop the drain going to England. At this rate they could start up two new clubs to based solely of Australian players and would probably be very good.

I don't see the player exodus as a problem. We're always lementing the players that head off to England, but there's always someone else to come along. That's the great thing about Rugby League. I think the salary cap should go up every year though to coincide with inflation.

But clubs especially in Sydney are going bankrupt. The clubs out of Sydney will probably like this and become dominate while the Sydney clubs will struggle.

The players are overpaid as it is, no need to up the salary cap. And isn't the superleague apparently going to be restricting overseas players in the not too distant future?

Well then they need to find other means to get money in to quote Brad Fittler.

no way can the cap keep going up, clubs simply cant afford it.
Then they don't spend what they don't have.

I thought that was already happening itbt. It can be a grey area if a player holds an EU passport.

There's going to be an extra 2 Super League sides joining very soon.

So even if the limit per side is less, the overall number will be very close to the same.

Is Folou really worth the lost of Hannant, Kemp and Ennis. Add Carroll and a half fit Lockyer and I reckon they will be struggling hard next season.

The thing with the exdous of NRL players to England. Most only go for two seasons, cashing up and then come back to Australia if they can get a gig. Wouldn't increase the salary cap personally. As most clubs both in Sydney and outside will just go belly up. Not really sure also how long English clubs can still pay there stupid amounts, as some are struggling themselves.

No he's not worth the loss of these 3 players, definitely not! Also I hear Boyd is going to the Titans too.

Not THAT many players come back to Australia. Like besides Ben Harris, Jamie Lyon, Brad Meyers who else has done this?

I've heard there is a very good chance Shaun Berrigan is missing home and could very well be back at the Broncos next year, which would be great.

There's actually been quite a few, they're just not big names. There's quite a few from the Bulldogs squad that used to play in England. Toni Carroll has done it off the top of my head.
