Think Manly at $1.37 against the Dragons tonight would be a better bet.
Man, you're killin' me. Lucky I steered clear.

Anyway, have chickened out and just ended up placing $100 @ $1.45 for Melbourne to lead at half and full time.

Famous last words, but it has to be a sure thing.

Loving the HT lead odds, usually pays slightly better than picking a winner.

For sure, the HT odds are awesome. One little $40 win can easily subsidise, or clean pay for, one's grogs for the weekend.

On Ch7 there is speculation that Nathan Friend will get called into the Queensland SOO team as back up for Cameron Smith? Why apart from the fact of not being Origin material he wouldn't offer anything as they are both 80 minute players anyway.

He meets the most important criteria for Queensland selection, anyone but Scott Prince.

Hope Sonny Bill just leaves, ****ing sick of reading about the ****. I swear the papers save 15 pages per day during the season to talk about Sonny Bill.

The Bulldogs, in the paper today, have said they will launch court action - $3 million for breach of contract against SBW if he leaves, and also an injunction to stop him playing elsewhere; and also a suit against any party who encourages him to breach his Bulldogs contract.

Good on them, I say.

Good luck with that. If a player wants to leave, there is next to nothing a club can do. People quit jobs all the time, cus they can earn more money somewhere else.

Actually Bulldogs have a very good case here apparently. Sonny Bill agreed to play for the club under the terms of a contract and he signed it, he cant just back out because he can get more money somewhere else.

You'll find people that leave ordinary jobs either dont have contracts or under the terms of their contract have to give two, three or four weeks notice.

Giving someone two weeks notice or six months if they are in a higher paying position, is still quitting. Pretty sure any employee has the right to quit or resign if they want. If not it then it would be a breach of trade. Off coure though they could have terms stating he can't play for another team during the time of his contract or in rugby. Then he would be ****ed, but unless they have that clause they can't do much.

Have you ever seen an NRL contract? They aren't two pages long, its like a freaking book. No wonder players take weeks and months to consider contracts as each one has numerous obligations, clauses and terms.
At the end of the day if the Bulldogs do not want Williams to leave then he wont be allowed to play for another team or another code. Of course they cant physically force him to play for them but by the sounds of it they have the right to stop him playing elsewhere.

Most contracts for people higher then lower level jobs are about the the same length tbh and have as many obligations, clauses and terms. The thing with most NRL contracts these days is that there are usually clausing for releases or atleast allowing them to sign for overseas clubs if they get more money. But most likely in Sonny Bill case he wouldn't have those clauses. From all reports though both Gasiner and Sonny Bill aren't specifically allowed to sign for English league clubs, other NRL clubs and Super 14 clubs. Apparently there is grey area with regard to overseas Rugby clubs. Which is the main reason why only French and English rugby clubs are try to sign them. Regardless of what you think of player agents or those clubs. They aren't going to activity talk to the players unless there is realistic chance of signing them. Those obligations, clauses and terms work both ways.

What usually happens is that the player will approach the club and ask for a release, in the case of Gower etc... we have seen the club take the opinion that the player has given a lot of service and we will allow them to break their contract. The club could have just as easily said "no sorry you have to see out your contract" and they have to.

Yeah but I doubt any clubs is going to force a player to stay at a club, if they really wanted to get out. Asking a club for a release is just the right procedure to follow. It really doesn't make much difference.
