I seriously doubt that any club who has one of the top three players in the game signed for the next five years, is going to let that player walk away. I'd rather a slightly disgruntled SBW at my club than a happy factory standard first-grader.Yeah but I doubt any clubs is going to force a player to stay at a club, if they really wanted to get out. Asking a club for a release is just the right procedure to follow. It really doesn't make much difference.
I'm sure SBW when confronted with the choice between (a) having to sit on the sidelines for the next five years/being sued for a couple of million versus (b) playing league and earning $400 000 per year minimum, will opt for the latter.
Contracts, entered into freely with no get-out clauses, are binding unless there is consent from both sides to rescind.
