A lot of NRL clubs only have themselves to blame, sitting on their hands and relying on pokies revenue to keep themselves afloat, rather than creating other revenue streams.
It's still going to be a pretty strong side next year.Is Folou really worth the lost of Hannant, Kemp and Ennis. Add Carroll and a half fit Lockyer and I reckon they will be struggling hard next season.
The thing with the exdous of NRL players to England. Most only go for two seasons, cashing up and then come back to Australia if they can get a gig. Wouldn't increase the salary cap personally. As most clubs both in Sydney and outside will just go belly up. Not really sure also how long English clubs can still pay there stupid amounts, as some are struggling themselves.
Agreed.A lot of NRL clubs only have themselves to blame, sitting on their hands and relying on pokies revenue to keep themselves afloat, rather than creating other revenue streams.
Most clubs were actually trying to find other ways to stay afloat prior to the pokies taxes being implemented. As everyone knew they were coming for about two years. Problem is that the culture is different in Sydney and there isn't really many other options to earn money of the clubs. But the core issue isn't how much money is coming in, it is the fact that the potential money is spread to thin across too many clubs. Also it not like some Melbourne based AFL clubs don't have similar problems.A lot of NRL clubs only have themselves to blame, sitting on their hands and relying on pokies revenue to keep themselves afloat, rather than creating other revenue streams.
That side doesn't include Boyd and Ennis who haven't confirmed they're leaving yet, although don't expect to have Ennis on board next year. Stagg is the only one of those players who is a chance to not be there next year.Presuming you don't lose anyone else that is. Still looks like next to no depth IMO.

As I said cultures are different. Most clubs put together massive memberships drives with little return.Memberships....
I've heard he's missing home almost as much as he misses his teeth. Actually, he's from Ipswich so that's not true. He's never missed his teeth. No he's not worth the loss of these 3 players, definitely not! Also I hear Boyd is going to the Titans too.
Not THAT many players come back to Australia. Like besides Ben Harris, Jamie Lyon, Brad Meyers who else has done this?
I've heard there is a very good chance Shaun Berrigan is missing home and could very well be back at the Broncos next year, which would be great.
Colin Best had 3 years at Hull then went back to St George & Jason Smith also had a long spell in the black-and-white before going back to Canberra. Pretty sure Jase was sounded out about an Origin recall too.No he's not worth the loss of these 3 players, definitely not! Also I hear Boyd is going to the Titans too.

Did Colin Best seriously have 3 years? Jason Smith was never a realistic chance of playing for QLD on his return to the NRL.Colin Best had 3 years at Hull then went back to St George & Jason Smith also had a long spell in the black-and-white before going back to Canberra. Pretty sure Jase was sounded out about an Origin recall too.
Other guys have had shorter spells too: Head had half a season at Hull & Dobson has spent time in France & at Wigan before settling on Hull KR after failing to secure a regular go at the Raiders.
There's obviously others, but I notice the Hull-based players more.
Being a Hull fan, I'm surprised you forgot Mat Head.Colin Best had 3 years at Hull then went back to St George & Jason Smith also had a long spell in the black-and-white before going back to Canberra. Pretty sure Jase was sounded out about an Origin recall too.

Head had half a season at Hull
In my defence:Being a Hull fan, I'm surprised you forgot Mat Head.
EDIT: As Tharmi points out above...Other guys have had shorter spells too: Head had half a season at Hull
I think BB is referring to when Jason Smith was being considered to be flown in from England to play.Did Colin Best seriously have 3 years? Jason Smith was never a realistic chance of playing for QLD on his return to the NRL.
Dobson yep your right, but he's since gone back, also Michael Sullivan has returned.
The list is still very small.
Scott Logan and Andrew Dunneman also came back to the Raiders at the start of last year.Being a Hull fan, I'm surprised you forgot Mat Head.
There's also Darren Albert, Ben Harris, Ian Henderson, Logan Swann, Danny Nutley (twice), Matt Adamson, Tonie Carroll, Brad Meyers, Nick Bradley-Qaliwlaalwllalalala, David Kidwell, Nigel Vagana, Feleti Mateo and David Peachey who've came and gone back. Pretty sure there's more too. Will chase it up when I can be arsed.
