It's going down to the wire, 35 wanted off four overs. That's the first time Butcher has opened in quite a while, it may encourage him to continue.

If Brown goes now Kent would be favourites I'd have thought.

Oh gawd, Brown gone now - and Nicholson. 23 off two overs, a 'big ask' for two new batsmen, and lower order men at that.

Azhar Mahmood 3-37, getting one over on his old team-mates.

That's the first time Butcher has opened in quite a well, it may encourage him to continue.
I'm unspeakably annoyed that he's been batting four since 2005. It makes no sense whatsoever. He's an opener, and Jonathan Batty isn't FFS. His only chance of winning back his England place was to open. That's gone now, obviously.

He might open again in one-dayers for the rest of this season if we're lucky, but I highly doubt he'll go back to the top of the Championship order.

WoW, somehoworother Surrey managed to crash from 303 for 4 to 320 ao!

Shades of that Somerset-Kent C&G semi from 2002. This time the SEers are the beneficiaries rather than the losers.

Another great match and a great result :)

Good to see Stevo come into some form with the bat, with VJ continuing to show encouraging signs. I'm not a big fan of the cosmopolitan make-up of our bowling attack but Mahmood, McLaren and Arafat have all done well so far this season so can't really complain.

Another good innings from Bopara. Must be in the squad for the ODIs and if more things go his way, possibly in the starting line up.

Sussex struggling here - 25/3. Pattinson with two of the three wickets to fall.

Well Matthew Prior appears to have slogged a century - 110* off 130 balls as I type. Perhaps even more remarkably, he's taken Pattinson for as much as 53 in 7 overs (maybe even fewer overs). Shreck and Swann too have been belted, with only Ealham escaping the axe, with 12 overs for 25.

Even more remarkably than all, though, is the fact that Paul Franks has sent down 9 overs without a single no-ball. Still gone for 4-an-over, but for once that's not remarkable.

Meanwhile, at The Rose Bowl in one-day cricket, Mascarenhas starts off superbly, and demolishes Worcestershire's top-order in the process: 6-14-3 and still bowling in his opening spell.

Meanwhile, Tremlett goes for 17 off his first 3 overs.

EDIT: end result Mascarenhas 10-37-3, disappointing he went for as many as that, WTF was he bowling himself at the death for?

Tremlett 10-44-2 too as the might that is Steve Magoffin ends with 24* from 22.

Billy Taylor's best spell of the season by a long way, with 10-24-0, that's much more like the Taylor we know. Disappointing in the extreme when part-time stuff like Greg Lamb gets 10-38-2 along with those Tremlett\Mascarenhas bowlers though.

Worcester have done very well to recover from a very precarious 66-6 to post just over 200. Tremlett on the whole bowled pretty well, was fairly consistent in hitting his area of back of a length and troubled most of the worcester batsman. Even Graeme Hick struggled to come to terms with the length and bounce Tremlett was getting and finally succumbed caught behind off a decent ball. Also bowled with decent pace.

Mascarenhas nipped the ball about in his opening spell and caused problems, Ben Smith perhaps gifted his wicket to Dimi, slapping a short one straight to cover.

Disappointed I didn't get a good luck at Steve Davies who fell for 0, expecting Mascarenhas to move it back into him, it just kept its line and he edged behind.

Excellent rearguard action from Batty and the lower order to give an attack comprising of Jones, Magoffin, Kabir Ali, Andrew and Batty half a chance of defending a relatively small total.

Looking sharp, isn't he. And has taken 5-32 against the same opposition this season which should give them some jitters. 51-4, Worcs now slight favourites I'd say.

Well, how long will Jones last this time mewonders?

This Worcs-Hants game is on Sky then is it?

BTW Manee - LOL at your signature, even I'd forgotten how apt my phraseology was in my very first post. And sorry about my disappearing act earlier - for some reason my house's network completely cut-out on us, happens from time to time.
