I think White could do what McGrath and Gillespie cannot - reverse-swing and cut the ball, and hence threaten batsmen in all conditions.
If he's so good, how come he averages 37.63, whilst McGrath averages 21.71 and Gillespie 25.24 (both for a far greater number of wickets)

So that suggests that while he may be able to do something that they can't, he can't do it well, and what they do is a damn sight more effective than his attempts at it!

They're both more accurate than him, no disputing that.
If a match was played against perfect batsmen in conditions as good for batting as possible, I think White would get more wickets than either.
Past effectiveness, as you should know by now, doesn't count for everything in my eyes.

But not many wickets and not cheaply.
Nope, that's just something I judge could have happened, and I can't prove it would and you can't prove it wouldn't!:saint:

Notice, I've never actually asked that question (assuming your comment was preceded by "who would you select for a team trying to win a cricket match").
All I've said was "I think White has bowled better at times than McGrath is capable of".

Diggity diggity dig dig.

I agree about White: Far better than McGrath...Anthony McGrath (ahahaha I'm so funny not).

Some good picks and some howlers in this thread.

Anthony McGrath > everyone.

Test record of 40.2 with the bat, 14 ball. Can't beat that.

Yeah I changed my mind on the Hasan Raza thing after learning that only recently have Pakistan had no official birth-registration system until fairly recently, so hence no player's age can be regarded as definate and those who debuted supposedly in the mid-late-teens were almost all probably older.

I haven't changed my tune in the slightest that Craig White could indeed bowl some things Glenn McGrath couldn't. Didn't make him a better bowler, obviously. But he certainly could and did.

How does the tune go?

A nice blend of funk or a bit jazzy or perhaps a dash of pop?

This is an odd statement. Of course he can - as can most bowlers

Until they start cloning bowlers, they are all going to have different skill sets.

White's was a more extensive set of skills than McGrath's, however, and he used them far more often.

It's a shame, a great shame, that he didn't end-up a far better bowler than he did.
