most talented young player!

hourn

U19 Cricketer
I reckon young Mark Cosgrove is actually a better batting talent than Michael Clarke.

And I reckon Aaron Bird is the best bowling talent in Australia (very big call - considering he hasn't played FC cricket yet).

And I reckon Beau Casson is the best spin bowling talent in the land.

Outside of Australia the only ones I'd really know are already playing international cricket, so theres not much point in naming them as everyone knows them.

Yeah, Casson's prolly the best young spinner in the land but there isn't a great deal of quality opposition.

I don't really rate Hauritz that highly and Cameron White I believe has more of a future as an allrounder than as a specialist spin bowler.

I haven't seen Liam Zammit so I'll reserve my judgement on him.

aaron bird is class full stop. hasnt been burnt out by the nsw bowling coaches like some of the other players around, by virtue that he only began playing proper competitive cricket at age 16. goes to train with nsw side and gets out every top batsman at least 3 times per net, not bad for a rookie. will be a future test bowler, and has potential to become a great.

another young talent to watch out for is 16 yr old moises henriques. has just been selected in australian u19 world cup sqaud, and will be one of the opening bowlers. bowls around 130 mark, which is exceptional for a 16 yr old. has been terrorising batsmen in sydney grade cricket all season.also more than competent with the bat, and has potential to become the best all rounder australia has seen since alan davidson and keith miller, provided the system doesnt burn him out

Vaughn Van Jaarsveld

I havent been fortunate enough to see JP Duminy.. Hope he can keep it up though!

If he can stay fit, Mitchell Johnson from Queensland. Has the potential to be faster than Brett Lee and he is a left-armer.

We have another fast bowler up here getting a few games - Damien McKenzie. He looks the goods.

And don't forget Chris Hartley- Australia's next test keeper!!! :D :P

I'm surprised no ones mentioned Bilal Shafayat. Easily the most talented young English Batsmen atm. Only 19 and over the next couple of years i think he has the potential to be the best english batsmen about. Then again Ian Bell was one of the best youngster england had produced in a long long time and look whats happened to him :( but he's still young too so all is not lost :)
England arent exactly overrun with good young batsmen atm, we seem to have a good lot of Bowlers / wicketkeepers though.

Heres a link to his profile for those who've never heard of him.

Bilal Shafayat

I think it is the other way around. The only young bowlers we have are James Anderson and Kabir Ali. Also, a long way off, there is apparently a Bangladeshi bowling chinamen who is 10 years old. Ravi Shastri was really impressed and rated him as a really good prospect.

Dunno how you come to that conclusion.
Name 3/4 GOOD young english batsmen atm (under 24).
I struggle to think of one...Pieterson, maybe Ian bell, But thats about it.
Where as with fast bowlers we have Kabir Ali / Anderson / Jones / Harmison who all have potential.

Bell, Peiterson, Troughton has potential, just needs to work on his footwork, Shafayat, Jefferson, Pettini, etc, etc, etc.

Harmison is OK, Kabir Ali is a talent, Anderson is talented. I don't personally rate Jones.

Probably odds-on to break Hasan Raza's records then.
I still struggle to believe that anyone could pick a 14-year-old for Tests and ODIs.

The trouble with "young" is: what is it? Under 24? I just think "prospects" is a better idea, because that covers just about anyone under 31.
For me, those who could make international batsmen (not just in Tests) sometime:
Strauss (ATM more Tests), Key, E. Smith (ATM more Tests), G. Jones, Wagh, Bell (ATM more ODIs), Troughton (Tests), Clarke and Newman (yes, seriously, both of them, Tests), Afzaal (ODIs), Shah (Tests), Solanki (Tests). To name a few.
As you can see, selection for the wrong form of the game is a big, and often misleading, problem.

No, I meant in about 10 years time.
Yes, I know what YOU meant, but you can almost gurantee that the Bangladeshi selectors won't be able to wait long enough.
I can't help worrying that they won't be able to wait anywhere near long enough, and if they can't Hasan Raza's records might be in danger.

I have never seen yasir hameed play but he has been unbelievably consistent, and has put together an excellent record in a short time.

Erm...Forgive me if I'm wrong, but if he has played for a short time, therefore you cannot call him consistent.

He's been consistent over a short time.

Solanki? Tests? With his tendency to drive at everything anywhere? Key?

I doubt Hasan Raza was really 14. And we've got a 9 year old at Caistor Town who took 7 wickets in 4 overs this year, and ended the year opening the bowling for the midweek XI and topped the U15 bowling averages. England on the way.

As far as I'm aware there's as much doubt about Hasan's DOB as there is about Parthiv Patel's. Unlike Sharif who no-one really knows how old he is.
Key has played 3 Test innings in his proper position. Hardly something to base a fair judgement on. And he didn't do absolutely terribly in them. He was only picked as a stop-gap measure because of Trescothick's injury and Butcher's inexplicable relucatance to open.
Solanki didn't have a great last season but, quite simply, he has a better overall First-Class record than most who aren't already Test players or haven't already failed in Tests. You can't look past that, because there isn't anything to look at.

7 tests for an average of 54 and 19 ODI for an average of 50, is though not a long stretch but enough to say he is a talented young player, and since these averages are not a result of one massive innings (like 250+), or one massive series (Kambli), I said he is consistent.
