Ya, purple cap.

Loving this defiant knock from Dravid. Really sad to see his team let him down like this.
cool, good to see something for the bowlers

i presume the reason i havent seen this is because no bowler has actually been #1.. (ie. it has been equal #1 for a lot of the time)

meh by the time Jaipur play again someone else would've been leading wicket taker anyway (perhaps Pathan tonight)

haha, B'lore getting thrashed, a familiar thing .... not surprising as many had predicted this before the start of the tourney by seeing the team

Mallya has the right to be upset. He should have backed his instinct rather than following some bad advise

I can't believe that someone like Boucher is sitting out for Kallis .... thats what you get by having a dunderhead like Dravid at the helm

Didn't watch it, but good to see Dravid get runs quickly. This whole "test player" stereotype is a bit overdone by the media. He does have a 21-ball 50 in ODIs too so it's not like he's totally incapable of scoring quickly.

I guess it's not about being incapable but about no having the ability to do that on a consistent basis, for e.g. Sehwag or Dhoni, who not only has a higher strike rate but also has scored more runs

the opposite would be the case in tests, where someone like Dravid wins hands down but that does not imply that a Dhoni or a Sehwag is incapable for playing tests

It's about being 'more' suitable to a format

Dravid can play the 2 run a ball type knocks, but I dunno if Twenty20 has come a bit too late for him to adapt properly.

Don't see Kallis ever adapting mind, his strength in Tests is his weakness when he has to score quickly.

That's what you get by having a dunderhead commenting on selections
any link where it says Boucher is injured? .... below is the probable line up in the preview on cricinfo

Bangalore Royal Challengers (probable): 1 J Arunkumar, 2 Virat Kohli, 3 Misbah-ul-Haq, 4 Rahul Dravid (capt), 5 Jacques Kallis, 6 Mark Boucher (wk), 7 Praveen Kumar, 8 B Akhil, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 Anil Kumble, 11 Dale Steyn

or are you making the comment by assuming that I m suppose to wake up early to see a game involving B'lore and find out whats happening to them 8-)

Dravid's not been in form in any of the three formats recently. If he'd been in the kind of form he had about 2-3 years ago when he batted at 5 for India in ODI's, I'm sure he'd be one of most successful 20-20 players.

Have a look at tonight's matches - completely dominated by test players including 3 (Warne, Sehwag and Dravid) who are supposedly unsuited to the format

This is not just a one-off occurence as virtually every game has been dominated by a test player

Why?

Because they are by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar the most talented cricketers and the best option NO MATTER WHAT THE FORMAT

Dravid and Kallis are 2 of the greatest players in history and can adapt to any form of the game when in form.

The fact is, for one reason or another, they havent been in great touch.

I, for one, found it amusing to see Dravid depositing 20/20 specialists onto the roof tonight.

As we all know, it would be exactly the same results in fc or tests against these guys (if a miracle happened and they actually got picked) because he, and the other test players, are light years in front of them.

The big difference is that in 20/20, Dravid and co have to hit from the outset and, as such, some of the substandard guys get lucky from time to time

The Wheel is Forever
To prove the superiority of Test players (since I had nothing better to do), I've made a list of all the Man of the Match awards in the completed games of the IPL:

  1. McCullum
  2. MEK Hussey
  3. Maharoof
  4. DJ Hussey (x)
  5. Boucher
  6. SR Watson
  7. Sehwag
  8. Hayden
  9. YK pathan (x)
  10. Sangakarra
  11. Oram
  12. Watson
  13. Katich
  14. SR Watson
  15. Gilchrist
  16. Dhoni
  17. Jayasuriya
  18. McGrath
  19. Asnodkar (x)
  20. Marsh (x)
  21. Sehwag
  22. Kumar (x)
  23. IK Pathan
  24. Pollock
  25. Sreesanth
  26. Gilchrist
  27. Nehra
  28. Dhoni
  29. Ganguly
  30. YK Pathan(x)
  31. Balaji
  32. Ganguly
  33. Watson
  34. Marsh (x)
  35. Akhtar
  36. Jayasuriya
  37. Mishra (x)
  38. Pollock
  39. Smith

Even though the number of players with at least one Test cap make up a minority of all players in the IPL, they have won 80% of the MoM awards.

Sehwag still can't bowl- yet he brings himself on and hands the match on a platter to the Kings.

This team is not short of bowling options. They still had McGrath. They also have a more-than-useful spinner. What was the need to bring himself on? The ball just came on the bat nicely.

Punjab vs. Delhi is one of the biggest farces ever.

You can't ****in have an 8 over innings, whether rain interrupts or not. Punjab would have probably won anyway, but seriously 11 and then 8 overs. Its ridiculous.
