**Official** Australia in West Indies

Nah, he is in good 20/20 form. We all saw what happened to Yuvraj when he was selected on the back of such performances.
Didn't he score a hundred on the back of Twenty20 form? Yeah he was poor in Australia, but so were most of Indian batsmen at the start of series due to lack preparation on Australian conditions.

Unlike the rest though, he remained ordinary.

As for who should be in the Test side, definitely not Watto. Not ahead of Hodge, Kat or D Hussey anyway. Besides he needs some runs on the board, literally and metaphorically. At least one season without an injury would be a decent start.

That is true. But there were better candidates for the job (based on Test form).

Only got two Test though, most of the batsmen found their feet in the 3rd and 4th Tests.
You watched him bat, right? After seeing the way he batted in the 20/20 WC, I was really looking forward to seeing what he did in the Tests but after those two Tests even, he looked so utterly clueless, the selectors had to drop him. As for most of the batsmen finding their feet in Perth and Adelaide, check out the scorecard from Sydney and say that again;

Jaffer and Yuvraj were the only guys who didn't get runs. Christ, even Harbhajan got runs.

You totally missed the point of my post then. I was talking about Nash being in the same boat as Pollard. Unworthy of selection.

It was a post about Nash, more than Pollard.
I analysed the season and only four people have more worth to be selected than Nash. dale Richards, Ryan Hinds, Devon Smith and Runako Morton. Nash scored more runs and averaged way better than Pollard in about the same number of innings.

Again you're ignoring my point.

Pollard had as good a season last year, in his first year of West Indies domestic cricket. Nash just played his first season of West Indies domestic cricket. Nash has about as much claim to selection as Pollard did this time last year. Also, if we analyze Nash's performances this season - and it's a very basic analysis, but reveals so much - we see that he scored 221 runs in 3 innings against T&T. Against everyone else he averaged 33podd. Decent, but not demanding a callup. It shows a lack of consistency. He passed 50 just once against everyone other than T&T.

Dale Richards alone is far more deserving of a callup, as he has been consistently better than Nash. It's not the fault of Nash, as he's only had one season thus far to prove himself. But it's not as though he was tearing it up in Australia before shifting allegiance. He was a below average batsman there (admittedly in a much stronger competition) and came over to the West Indies and had a decent first season.

The problem with West Indies selection is exactly the approach that you're suggesting. Looking at a very small picture of performance. The bigger picture demands a lot more from Nash before he should be considered for the Test team. There is no fair measure that reveals that Nash should be ranked any higher than Pollard at this stage.

Not just using performances though. Have very little trust in Pollard's batting which is why I referenced the Challenge Final. Nash's style wouldn't get him out like how Pollard did plus he provides stability and some staying power.

Agreed with Richards as I said before along with Smith, Morton and Hinds. They're the only players who'd be ahead of Nash for squad selection IMO.

Nash played best against Guyana and Trinidad. His first two matches he was in terrible form before a 91* against Guyana. Good game against T&T then one ok game and a bad one. Shows some good batting against spin and trouble acclimatising to the WI conditions and pitches to some extent. Having said that aveaging 29 in Australia is comparable to averaging in the 50s in the WI IMHO. Still, no prob if the four I named are ahead of him in the saud but not Pollard, Perkins or Parchment. Thankfully though they're just there for practice.

Mr. Mohammed's views on the matter.

Plus I have it on good word that the sqaud to face the Aussies in the Tour match, with Nash and Lambert in England, is: Brenton Parchment (Captain), Xavier Marshall, Simon Jackson, Shawn Findlay, Lorenzo Ingram, Carlton Baugh Jnr., Donovan Sinclair, Shacoya Thomas, Nikita Miller, André Dwyer, Gavin Wallace, André Russell and Neive McNally, with the reserves being Chadwick Walton, Dennis Bulli, Dwight Stewart and Nkrumah Bonner.

Never heard of McNally.

Haha. He said in the press he was using the time to prepare for the tour and to also spend some time with his father.
The line about preparing for WI tour was just one of those throw-away lines that players say and don't really mean. The other bit was the true reason as we are now seeing.

Pollard and Perkins have a lot of potential. They're both rather young and have certainly not had access to the facilities that Nash has by playing in Australia. Considering that none of them is likely to, nor should, play Test cricket for West Indies any time soon, I don't see the issue here. Pollard and Perkins have a lot more to gain from training with the squad.

Both are roughly a decade younger than Nash and, as previously stated, have not experienced the training and coaching that Nash has. It makes perfect sense that they get precedence in this situation. It's about developing players, not about helping an Aussie get himself into West Indies cricket team. Big picture.

Parchment has the least potential of all four, so I disregard him in this point.

They're gonna get slaughtered. Playing tourists into form. Lovely.

I actualy saw him play that innings live and looked pretty good before he got to a very good ball from Lee. He looked very good against Johnson and was struggling against Lee and to an extent he looked clueless against Lee. But really most batsmen that season looked clueless against Lee. Against Pakistan when he scored that hundred, he looked a million dollars and showed some real signs that he could make it at Test level. I don't really see how four poor innings equals looking clueless, especially when you take in account the bowling attack.

That hundred against Pakistan was on an extremely flat deck and against an attack comprised of Sami, Arafat and Kaneria. I suspect that lesser batsmen would have looked a million dollars in the circumstances.

If Katich doesn't play my life will be over.
Talk in the paper today that Haddin may bat at 6, with Symonds promoted to 5 and Noffke slipping into the side.

If that did happen I could understand your pain, given I thought Love was a shoe-in for a batting spot on the last Windies tour and was hijacked by the supposed need for 5 bowlers and Bichel batting at 7.

There's one way to prepare for a tour, in training and another to get away from the game and have a fresh attitude towards it. Anyway, this debate is going nowhere so it's the last I'm going to say on the issue. I'll let you have the last word if you want it.

Nope, hate the idea. Batting looks weak with a mere 4 specialist batsmen....I, along with most people, am still not entirely convinced by Symonds and both Noffke and Haddin are unproven quantities at Test level...I would rather Noffke took Johnson's place if anything.

Yeah, never really like the idea of five bowlers, so not too keen on it myself, and although I really don't want to see Katich back at test level he's done everything required to gain his test spot back again.

Symonds 5? Haddin 6? Noffke 7? That's a fantastic idea!

Better yet, let's see Haddin opening the batting. Looking forward to this series now. :)

ATM no prob with them being in the training squad. Will have a problem if somehow they come into contention for Tests.
