I guess I'm wondering accountability to whom though? It's a privately-owned team and it's no-one's responsibility other than theirs if they paid a heap for a bunch of Test players, almost all of whom didn't play in their country's 20/20 WC teams, and it hasn't worked out. No-one's fault other than theirs and if they lose money, so be it. In fact, for such ill-considered spending, it's a good thing they fell flat on their faces.
Now now you are changing your stance here, first you said that they have a decent list, just haven't gelled.

The owner didn't pick the team himself. He appointed Charu Sharma (CEO or whoever), who along with the captain was responsible for picking the team. So the accountability of the CEO(and captain) to the owner of the team who is shelling out his millions.

Not really. They are a decent list and in terms of Tests, it's a great list and considering their Test records, they couldn't be seen to be offering them less than, say, 20/20 specialists. It's just that it was a risk picking guys who are great Test players and it didn't come off. It was not a risk without merit considering that in the 20/20 WC, guys who did well at Tests and ODI's did well and 20/20 specialists didn't do all that well but a risk nonetheless. It didn't come off and the responsibility rests within the franchise. I guess I'm just reacting to people saying (not you) "My goodness, what a waste of money!" like it's a moral offence when it's nothing more than an investment which didn't pay off and entirely the responsibility of the franchise itself. There's no grass-roots cricket or person on the street who is affected by spending of the owner. If he'd paid them billions, still wouldn't change a thing other than to just look really dumb.

Whatever it takes!!!
Sanath, Shoaib Malik and Karthik still struggle to score runs. Karthik out leg-before to-guess who- Dwayne Bravo- with keeper standing up.
28 off 23, 4 or 5 boundaries, as long as he was there, they had a chance to win, got out to a ball trying to work it away for 2 because the guy at the other end sucks and there is virtually no batting to come. I know he could have done better but jeez man... if Karthik was struggling.....................

Really loving Polly right now. 2 in a row baby!!! Loving how we're now in with a chance of making a second half of the season push up the ladder. Feeling a lot better about this team than I was before, although Sanath and Uthappa need to convert their starts.

And good to see the scores coming down a bit too. Maybe using the same decks over and over again is causing this?
also, NOT moving the boundary ropes in in some of the centres where they had done it earlier.

Wasim Jaffer
Rahul Dravid(1,035,000)
Anil Kumble (500,000)
Jacques Kallis(900,000),
Sunil Joshi
CAmeron White(500,000)
Mark Boucher (450,000)

There has got to be accountability. Next in line should be Mumbai and Kolkata.
yeah... there has to be. But what if this is just a vision that went wrong? You know, plans fail, sometimes ppl make bad decisions... You can see it every game how much it is hurting Rahul and how hard he is trying. He messed up at the first step... I don't really see what else he can do except to come out in the open and accept that he failed. I don't think he has failed as much tactically given the team he got, but the fact is that he himself was the man who selected the guys in the team and as such, he needs to accept the blame for that.

But I really don't know what good it will do to anyone if he is to come out tomorrow and say in a press conference that it was because of his poor judgement that he got this kind of a team and that he is unable to do anything with them... I am really not sure if that would do any good at all. Maybe at the end of the season, after having tried his damnest, he can quit, taking moral responsibility for the defeat... But right now, I don't really see if he can do anything else apart from try and get the best out of this team that he himself assembled....

You have to understand that the owners of the team mostly are very successful people and do not like losing. Mallya, the owner of the Bangalore team has been so successful gaining the lion's share of the liquor business in India, moving to create the jazziest (and what is arguably the best airline in the country) airline in India, and then buying an F1 team. If plans fail and the team is not winning on the ground, he (and a fair few others) will take steps to try and change things. This is the first time we have seen a step taken as the news of a CEO changing is reported in the media but I am sure that many team owners have pulled their teams before this as well directly or indirectly.

I wasn't really talking abt that though... I get all that.

My point was in reply to Sanz saying something about accountability... As I said, I can't see what Rahul can do at this stage to be "accountable". He has let it be known that the team selected was completely based on his inputs and now they are failing. As I said, the only thing he can do is try his best till the end of this tourney and then own up at the end if they still don't do even decently well....... Owning up now would just be a nightmare for everyone involved in RCB.

Would love Sachin opening the bowling then... lol ...

Edit: Probably cricinfo places the captain at the top and then the rest of the squad according to batting line-up...not too sure though...

Venkatesh Prasad also to be shown the door according to news reports here. Mallya is one of the most demanding men in Indian business and I don't think he's going to allow his side to remain national bottom feeders for long. But changing player personnel is the only way he has a chance of doing this IMO.

Anyone know if the teams can trade contracts at the end of the season or if there are any other mechanisms for roster shakeups in place?

Yeah good win, glad to see Royals lossing. All they need is Mcgrath and Harbhajan Singh in the team to make it the most annoying team in history.
