Top start by Surrey, got rid of both Di Venutuo and Neil Mac.

And as Scaly there doesn’t seem to be much batting depth in Durham’s side today, practically nothing of great note after Mustard.

Kieswetter doing a very good rabbit-in-the-headlights impression against Freddie, there. lbw for 0 off 13 balls.

194-7. Turner's just come in, with Willoughby & Munday to follow....I think that's it for the innings, then! I hope they prove me wrong...

Bopara proving his poor winter form has been shunted to the back of his mind. Another century today, and much needed one for Essex.

Much better from Kent today, although replacing Key with Dexter doesn't fill me with great confidence. Joseph for Saggers looks like it was a good change though. Would be nice to see Mahmood and McLaren take some wickets as well...

Quick question for anyone who knows, when does Ryan McClaren officially qualify for England?

Good performance from Lancs today, ncie to see us bowl a side out on day one. If we'd bowled like that more often over the last few years, we'd have a couple of championships. IMO our downfall has been letting teams bat themselves to safety, far too many wins thrown away into draws, so to see the main 4 firing nicely today is a huge boost.

Dexter should always be in the team, was surprised to see him not playing last week. Spoke to my mate and he said Neil was back in the second team and no one really could justify why to him.

It's not that I don't think Dexter has potential, or even that he's a decent batsman as it stands, but I have a lot of faith in Key these days - both as a captain and a mature opening batsman. I would be happy to see Dexter permanently in the side for someone like Walker though, if he continues his poor start to the season for another few games.

Yeah, no use blaming the rain, take the wickets and results will take care of themselves.

Nice having Freddie in the side for a few games as well.

Bowl the opposition out for under 300 on day one and you can afford to lose a session to the weather IMO. Hopefully we'll bat to a big score tomorrow

Apparently the pitch is becoming much more batsman friendly, so Langer won't be failing again!

Hopefully there will be some turn (reports suggested it was taking some already) in the second innings and Si Marshall can bag a few, be great to see him do well. will be interesting to see where he bats actually, he's not exactly a normal no 9.

Hopefully Horton can push on a get a big one tomorrow, should be a long day ahead for the somerset attack if the weather holds...Loye, Law, Hodge Flintoff the next 4 to come in.

Always good to see Bopara scoring runs, especially after his poor form in Sri Lanka. He never should have been playing, but still. A good season will put him back in the reckoning.
