As someone from Australia who will be in Bangalore at the time of the IPL those prices are awesome to see the calibre of cricketer we'll see. But how reasonable are they for the local fans?
Very.

That's like a day's allowance for me.

Does anyone know if any of the IPL is gonna be broadcast in the UK? Even just highlights or whatever.

Whatever it takes!!!
Can't see what all the rave with slick graphics and all that is. Not many top level football clubs have anything like that, they concentrate on text and images. Also these sites are taking an eternity to load. If this competition wants the credibility it deserves, it needs professional looking sites, not sites that look like they've been designed by someone with too much time on their hands but no idea what a sports team is all about.
The thing is, with most of these players we already know who there are. And for real cricket geeks, there is always cricinfo to check out these guys' profiles. It is only to attract the casual fans who will probably be mainly Indian anyways and as such, the bad English is not going to be such a HUGE deal.

And as I said, it will probably be changed very soon too.....

If they're unproffesional enough to let it result in a performance like this that's wholly their fault not the IPL's. Or was that a reference to the plethora of excuses we received after winning the CB Series?

Yeah I'd agree with that. You could say it was more a statement out of frustration. I still think all that money and glamour is too much though, especially for the younger, inexperienced guys who don't have the maturity to handle so much money and fame so quickly. Not to mention all these functions and appearances they have to make during a test series.

The last sentence I strongly agree with. The rest? Well; That's India I guess. We can't really change it.

Kolkata Knightriders is dealt a body blow. Lalit Modi said that if Shoaib Akhtar is banned by the PCB, they can't pick him in the IPL. So it's no IPL for Shoaib, and the Knights are set back.

Shah Rukh said on TV that if it doesn't work out, he may head elsewhere. There may be a change of hands after this initial season.

No traffic here in ages...surprising.

Now I get the feeling Rajasthan Royals will have a good tournament. They've got a good combination ready, and can storm this event.

We don't know what will happen to the Knightriders, as Shah Rukh is trying really hard to convince the BCCI (and possibly also the PCB) to repeal the ban on Akhtar in the IPL. Modi, though, is shopping for a replacement.

There was talk of the Kings XI Punjab team trying to recruit Mumbai opener Sahil Kukreja, but I see his name on no list. There are some squads with more players than some others- some teams have about sixteen, while some others have the full twenty. With Sahil opening, there will be more stability at the top of that order.

Some teams have yet to announce their kits. The Chennai kit looks sad, the Mohali kit looks impressive yet simple, the Rajasthan kit is a blatant copy of an international kit across the strait, while the Delhi and Kolkata uniforms resemble Manchester United and Liverpool playing their preferred jerseys facing each other. Mumbai's 'Indians' don't have a jersey announced yet, though I have a hunch (not seen it) it will be white with medium blue patches.

Does every team have a website? Mumbai's is possibly under construction, though every other is ready.

Stupid IPL, distracting our test cricketers who clearly aren't thinking about test cricket at the moment!
Come to think of it, IPL may do the Indian cricket establishment a lot of good. It's got a very professional, well-rounded and well-organised look to it, and it can only help the cricket scene.

The official team pages have full squads, often over 20. How will this revised Rajasthan Royals XI do?
  • Yusuf Pathan (OB)
  • Graeme Smith
  • Younis Khan
  • Mohammed Kaif
  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • Niraj Patel
  • Mahesh Rawat (WK)
  • Shane Warne (LBG)
  • Morne Mørkel (RF)
  • Pankaj Singh (RM)
  • Siddharth Trivedi (RM)
An alternative would have Taruwar Kohli and Kamran Akmal together replacing Younis and Rawat. Munaf may have to miss out because he's not too useful without the ball. Shane Watson, though a lot more useful, may be a fitness worry. Dimi Mascarenhas, though, has no such problem. Playing him at eight will strengthen the batting further.

Chennai still have problems putting together their bowling attack. They've got a full squad, but not quite one that will take ten wickets. A lot will depend on Murali.
  • Dhoni (WK)
  • Hayden
  • Raina
  • Badrinath
  • Hussey
  • Albie Morkel (RM)
  • Joginder (RMF)
  • Vidyut (SLA)
  • Ashwin (OB)
  • Muralitharan (OB)
  • Balaji (RM)
Sudeep Tyagi, the leading bowler in Ranji this season, may play in place of one of the bottom five. Leaving out Jacob Oram and Stephen Fleming is a tough task, but Albie may be replaced by one, particularly Fleming. Keeping out Ntini won't be so tough, given his struggle in that form of the game.
