SL look like playing 2 spinners in Murali and Herath. I think Murali is having a very lean patch at the moment in terms of wickets and its probably best that Herath is picked...In fact I think he may get more wickets than Murali at Bourda.

I would otherwise have preferred they play Welagedera as well as the 3rd seamer.

Benn makes his debut. I saw him in the Stanford 2020 and he was impressive, though judging by the standard of batting in that tournament being the most economical bowler is not that big a deal. Most of his sucess comes from bounce because of his height rather than spin, so I don't think he will be that effective at test level once batsmen have got used to it- though I wouldn't put it past him to make a good start because of the novelty of facing a 6'7" spinner.

Suleiman Benn and Dave Mohammed are an interesting pair of names, sound more usual if they were Suleiman Mohammed and Dave Benn.

what is with Windies playing 3 specialist bowlers and then Bravo? bloody annoying
As has been mentioned, Ryan Hinds is quite a decent bowler - you could have argued for Test his selection based on bowling alone at various points of his career (admittedly not now, but it does show that his bowling has been a little under-rated by posters in this thread). That said, I'd only really be in support of the strategy if they picked three seamers and Bravo with Hinds as the spinner.. Bravo as third seamer with two spinners is ITSTL.

Obviously expecting spin to play a part. Don't see how Benn gets selected over Jaggernauth unless as I said earlier with the latter not being outstanding at the sessions before the Test, Benn may have been. Based on stats you'd select Jaggernauth though.

Plus what's with the extra batsman, rarely ever works. It's WI selectors though so can't really say I'm surprised.

Apparently Chattergoon was selected but he's sick. Anyway, Sri Lanka doing well partly due to Powell's bowling and partly due to them batting well.

A SL opening partnership that lasts for 50+ runs. I have forgotten the feeling.
When Sangakarra comes out to bat he will probably be confused because he wont be facing a new ball in the 1st/2nd over.

Wonderful team selection this. I particularly like the picking of Ryan Hinds with no, seeming, intention to bowl him. I'd bet anything that if Samuels could bowl, he'd have bowled a good 10 overs by now, but Hinds has not yet had a look-in. Lovely.

Good innigs from Vandort and Warnapura.Vadort got a scorchng yorker, but up to that never looked getting out.

I am not that impressed with looseness of Warnapura's play. He may be found out by a better team. He may be riding on his good form, but I'd like him to be more compact on his stroke play.

Looks like a draw this.
I doubt it way the pitch is beraking up. Even an out of sorts Murali will be dangerous on this, and I am not going to comment about Herath who's in form of his life, repeatedly out bowling Murali in the domestic tournament.

Perfectly possible WI could collapse but with the batsmen in some amount of form, they'd have to face some super bowling or give away their wicket sto get blown away on this pitch. A pitch like this shouldn't be foreign to them and despite the probability playing the extra bat won't work, I'll give them a shot to make a draw of this because as it looks only Sri Lanka can win.

But... you just commented on Herath.
