Have just got in to watch the final session, and judging by the scorecard I am presuming it is a bit of a dead track. Was there anything in it with the new ball or did the openers not bowl particularly well? The bounce looks quite low and the pace of the track is hardly likely to rush batsmen.

Very dangerous time for WI with Sangakkara and Jayawardene together now.

Love watching Sanga bat, he makes everything look so easy and straight forward. His straight drive earlier was absolute textbook.

Sangakkara gone! Fully pitched, quite wide and Sanga goes for the drive only to edge to the safe hands of Devon Smith in slip. Big wicket for the Windies, Sanga will be gutted he has not done what he so often does and makes a big one when set, especially on a track like this.

Samaraweera now dismissed with a loose turn off his legs. Quickly becoming Windies day!
Thats three now for Taylor

Great session this. Another one before close of play like Jayawardene and WI have the advantage.

Get in Taylor! If only he had some quality at his side (like not-Powell). Mind, he hasn't produced any sparkling balls to get the wickets themselves.

Pretty even day. Good to see Warnapura score a hundred. Hopefully he can kick on from here. A massive confidence boost for him at this stage in his career. Can't wait to see Thurshara bowl again. Hopefully we can add another 100 or so tommorrow and get 350.

SL in no obvious rush to move this run rate along and are just focusing on posting a decent first innings total, no matter how long it takes.

I understand (what I presume to be) Gayle's reasoning for not taking the new ball. He doesn't trust Powell. And on the evidence of this game and recent Tests, he's right not to. The problem with going into a Test without 2 specialist seamers is that if one turns out to be Powell, you've got no backup. Bravo can't use the new ball effectively and Taylor can't bowl at both ends, so it's a logical assumption that it wasn't taken because Gayle preferred Bravo to Powell this morning.

I don't agree with this, mind. I think it would have been the perfect time to take the new ball just after Taylor got the wicket and tell Powell to let 'er rip.

For all my talk of Hinds being a legitmate bowling option, he's bowled 3 overs out of 120 odd to Gayle's 16. Even ignoring the fact that I think he should bowled more, the fact that they selected only three specialists when they had no faith in Hinds's bowling is ridiculous.

Many things about West Indies cricket are ridiculous. Either Gayle doesn't rate Hinds, who in fairness was picked to lengthen the batting, or Hinds doesn't rate himself. Though Hinds bowled fairly regularly when he was captain of Barbados.

He should be eager to bowl, because he really needs to make whatever impact he can to keep his place in the team. I highly doubt they will bat this deep on a regular basis. A spinner should be picked, but West Indies needs at least 3 specialist seamers too.

EDIT: Just saw the hamstring post.

Hamstring trouble for Hinds.Waste of selection. Should have gone Jaggernauth or Edwards.
Should've gone Jaggernauth and Edwards for Benn and Hinds. Or at the very least Jaggernauth and Edwards for Benn and Powell. I rate Benn, but I don't understand how he has leapfrogged Jaggernauth into Test cricket. ODI cricket, I could understand.
