I don't understand why people think Noffke can't bat at number 7 in test cricket. He is the third highest run scorerer in the Pura cup this season. He is also the second highest wicket taker, I just don't get why he is soo underarted.
Noffke deserves to be playing for Australia in every form of the game.

Unfortunately, he's in the same position as many others in the last 15 years or so

I agree. Not sure when the next Aus A tour is, but I do know that he's going to the Academy again this year. I would like to see him play a bit of County Cricket too TBH.

Should be in the next Aus A squad.
Yep, keep throwing him in the deep end. With the special ones - Ponting, Martyn, SWaugh, Hayden Warne, McGrath, Gillespie etc - you don't keep them back and let them bake in the oven of domestic cricket. You keep pushing them higher, and their game just develops quicker. I'd like to see him take over from Hayden if he goes in 18 months or so.

Agreed, other than Rogers theres no one else who has any claims to that opening possie.

Might be a good move for him. WA are exploding at the seams with quality batsmen...SA are awful in that department so he certainly would get a good shot in all formats at SA.

How close can Simon Katich be to a recall to the Aussie Test side ? He can surely have done no more this season, and even though he is 32, he deserves another crack at the top level, especially now when he is in such imperious form. He could quite conceivably have a further 4 years, at least, left in him.

Mate, the KatMan has done well for sure and certainly deserves the reserve batting spot for the Winter tours. However, I like our middle order at present - Ponting, Hussey, Clarke and Symonds. It's a good mix. Personally, I can't see a vacancy arising in the forseeable future, or even the medium term. If one does arise, I think the spot might go to Watson.

EDIT: Katman also deserves Hodge's CA contract when they're next handed out in June.

Rogers wants captaincy, as much as regular OD spot. He would be a good shot at both for either Queensland or South Australia. South Australia apparently have a fair bit of money to spend with Elliott gone, he was apparently on a fair bit.

Yeah, I know that Elliott when he first went over was appointed as an "Assistant Coach", which allowed him to get more money than the highest possible state player contract. Whether it was the same as that throughout his tenure in SA, I don't know.
