Regardless it not like SA's current players would/should be on much, even if Tait, Cullen and Bailey all lost their CA contracts. So they should have money to spend on new recuits. QLD should be in a similar position, if their main players all get CA contracts, as you would expect.

But I doubt money would be a big thing for Rogers as he will get a decent amount as CA contracted player. The captaincy and a regular OD spot seem to be the big thing for him.

S australia 3 down quickley thinks ain't changed.
Maybe we can swap the comets for south australia next year.
Boy they need some batsmen, may need to buy some unknowns if they can't sign rogers.
Seriously this is bad.

Sa fighting back against NSW after only making 129.

NSW 4/71

Cullen with 3/9 including Katich for a golden duck.

I reckon you could pick the eyes out of the Qld and SA batting lineups; combine them; yet still have the worst FC top six in world cricket.

Mathew Inness has announced his retirement today. Apparently he'll be sticking around at the Warriors, as a coach. Dissapointed tbh, one of my favourite players, still only young(ish) too, at 30. Had a stunning season this year, showed just how good he was.

Fair retirement XI this season from domestic cricket:

M Elliott
J Maher
J Langer
M Di Venuto
D Lehmann
A Gilchrist
M Nicholson
J Gillespie
M Kasprowicz
M Lewis
M Inness

A lot of youngish players in the list as well. Considering that SA and Queensland already have very little depth. It will be interesting times for Australian Cricket. It might be the end golden generation of FC sides being potential as good as some International sides. Expecting quite a few players might be moving states next season to push for more chances.

We have had a big problem in the last few years in South Australia of recruiting aging players to do the job

Elliot, Flower, Fleming.

Then we decided to appoint Adcock as captain after playing 4 good games at the end of last season, when everone can see he was never a solid state cricketer.
Once you get into the u/13 development squads you have a great chance of continuity as I guess the SACA like to keep players in the system once they have investe time in them.

The new lad in the team Jake Brown was pretty much making 50+ (no hundreds though) every second innings and taking 25+ wickets a year in 1st eleven cricket for 3 years straight but never got in ahead of players from the system. It took a further few years of similar A-grade performances to finally get a rookie contract. Whereas a couple of current players went through years of averaging low 20's and staying in the squads. A what a surprise they are giving us similar performances.

I think SA's biggest problem has been the talent they have has produced anything near their potential. The likes of Crosgrove, Ferguson, Cullen, Bailey, Rofe and Cleary have pretty much deliveried nothing near what they are capable of.

Fair point, with regards to Rofe, he is constantly dropped from the one day side because of his batting. If you are relying on number 11 to be an All-rounder, when let's face it there isn't any in SA, you have got no chance. Would Australia ever say McGrath is dropped for a part time bowler who can bat at 9?

I think it has more to do with the fact guys like Harris and Cleary where preforming at similar levels and are decent with the bat. The problem they had was with Gillespie batting as high as 8 at times, they had a long tail. A tail of say Gillespie, Cullen, Tait & Rofe is pretty bad.

Matches all pretty well placed going into 3 Day, would back both NSW and Vics to win outright from here. It would take a Watson special to say QLD and just something flukey to save SA.

Would be harsh for Casson, if he gets dropped for final, when the internationals comeback. He has been quite solid this season with the bat and improved with the ball of late.

Next week's End Game will be a snorter.

NSW face off against the Vics.

I think it's Foxtelled too.

The Katman would have to be odds-on to tonne up.
