Also, the pitches don't seem too bad, it's just high quality bowling and batting that's not been able to adapt that's been the main reason for the low scores, especially in Australia's case.
Most games we have had the ball has dominated the bat and they are all complaining about slow pitches or two paced pitches. While close games are good high scoring games are more entertaining. This is oneday cricket we are talking about and because of the wickets they are scoring only a little quicker than they were in the test matches. With 20/20 getting more popular it tells a story that people want to be entertained. Don't get me wrong I love test cricket but the slower paced game isn't for everyone. If the 50 over game slows down too much people will vote with there feet.

Exciting cricket is about two things, competition between bat and ball and general competitiveness between the two teams. High scoring matches rarely provide either.

Why especially in Australia's case? Australia have generally still made enough runs to win.
Australia's batting has been most disappointing from my perspective. India are a young rebuilding team who have left out senior players to prepare for the future and SL have two good batsmen so when they've done poorly, so it's not here or there where those two are involved. We have a full strength side so there are no excuses and I've been particularly disappointed at their efforts. The fact we have still been able to top the points table is due to our bowlers performing excellently and overcoming the difficult positions our batsmen have put them in this series.

Anyways, very excited about tomorrow. Last day of holidays so hopefully we can see a some excellent cricket to finish on a high (which Australia wins of course :p).

Man, Gilchrist was looking so good and Sreesanth so poor and all of a sudden things change so quickly, mainly due to a great take by Dhoni who really is having a superb summer behind the stumps.

Hayden looking so scratchy out there. Great shot from Ponting to get off the mark as well, wouldn't have known he was horribly out of form.

Edit: And as I write, Hayden smacks a four and six, haha.

Pretty good start this, even though we lost Gilly but still runs are coming at a fair clip and Ponting is looking much more assured with his balance and footwork out there today, so that's a refreshing change considering how things have gone so far in this series.

Probably should rest Ishant for the next couple games and start again fresh for SA and IPL. He has had a good summer, and it may not be good to overwork him before a long year coming up.

Haha rest for IPL, classic.
Haha, well SA tour will be tough, and then there is a long long year where he'll be toiling on mostly Indian pitches. Plus, ODIs outside WC are useless anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy if he rested all through the IPL as well, and focused on the year of Test cricket, but if I had to choose...

this is a proper one day wicket.

i'm all for bowler dominated games but as a general rule the oneday game is about scoring runs.

Yeah you know its a road when you have Hayden walking down the pitch and smashing the ball.
India bowling pretty crap as well thou.. Sreesanth balling some tripe.

Uuugh. Hayden acting like a sledgehammer and a bully again. Not what cricket needs. FFS introduce some subtlety into ure game.

I wonder whether Healy would be talking about Dhoni's gloves if had not taken that catch of Gilchrist.
Anyhow what Healy's talking about.. is that right ?
" Dhnoi's gloves webbing being illegal.. reckons its too big". I assume he knows what he's talking about seeing as he was once a wicket-keeper.
