Haha, Murali bowls 8 overs very tightly, not giving away much, then his first full toss gets Clarke. One of the oldest and truest 'rules' of cricket, the crap gets wickets.

8-)

No, I just don't like watching terribly slow ODI batting, no matter who is bowling/batting. Sure I like to see things competitive, but not to the point where it's a drag. Wouldn't mind seeing a full 100 overs as well, which I doubt there is going to be at this stage.
I prefer these kind of matches tbh. Love it when Australia have to fight.

Btw are you going to sign phone Channel 9 about the farmer needing a wife show? :p

Why the hell is channel 9 showing local news instead of the cricket?! :@ :@
Think yourself lucky, here in WA where only up to the 41st over.

I must say I think the curators around the country need a kick up the bum, we have had the dullest year of one day cricket that I can remember, oneday cricket should be producing scores around 300, thats what puts bums on seats. When they produce games that are wpn with 200 runs while it might be a struggle its not what one day cricket is about. If this continues ODI's will be a thing of the past and 20-20 will take over.

Don't agree, this has been one of the best series in memory because of the competitiveness of it and the low scores, much like the last CT series which was the best one-day tournament in ages. Constant tonking and batfests are boring and often for much of the game it's clear who will win. The bowlings being on top here is very refreshing and makes for great cricket.

Also, the pitches don't seem too bad, it's just high quality bowling and batting that's not been able to adapt that's been the main reason for the low scores, especially in Australia's case.

Low scoring thrillers ftw!

Around 100 is my pick. Another dismal showing from the Lankans though given the nature of the wicket, and their choice to bowl, perhaps they only have themselves to blame.

Sack the coach! :D

Also, it may be time for Sana to be put out to pasture, except of course that there is no one ready, as far as I know, to take the place of the old bull at the top of the order.

Hope the SCG is a decent wicket for the games next Tue and Fri.

India vs Aus should be an interesting one if the wicket is anything like this one.

It's not that I don't like competition, it's that I hate watching ugly ugly ugly batting, which is what that first 10 overs was.

Lol @ the Ch9 show, but nah, I won't be entering :p

No way. Games like these that are still up for grabs after the first innings are what people want to see. This has been one of the best CB series I can remember seeing. Batsmen working hard for their runs and bowlers taking advantage of the conditions beautifully.

Why especially in Australia's case? Australia have generally still made enough runs to win.

Worse Australian summer ever. Someone tell CA they have a ground with a roof, Telstra Dome. Play some matches there FFS.

I'm a big proponent of close matches myself but over and above all that, I prefer to see the skills of skilled players in action. Games produced by pitches like this aren't much of a spectacle in my view because it's not as if either side bowled amazingly well. The pace bowlers essentially just kept it tight and waited for the batsmen to make a mistake which, considering it was a pudding pie deck and they could barely hit the ball of the square unless it was a rank full toss or half-volley, took ages to arrive. Close matches are entertaining when both sides are playing well, not, in my view, when one facet of the game (good batting) is restricted by the conditions.

Close games where both teams are going at it as hard as they can in balanced conditions are great to watch. Close games where it's only close because a pitch makes shot-making difficult are excruciating to watch. The MCC should really examine whether drop-ins are the way to go because games like this are quite dull in my opinion. The games in Adelaide were really good but that's because they were only low-scoring or close games because the bowlers from both sides were outstanding and both sides played really well. Today's match wasn't the best exhibition of skills from two highly skilled sides and that's a bit of a shame.

FFS what is UP with our batting?

Although i am glad our bowling is gun and opposition batting has also been dire.... India though have Yuvraj and Dhoni so we can't afford to bat like this again <_< ....

hope a more better pitch in SCG will help that....damn we've been batting first heaps... we'd prolly lose but id like it if we bowled first for once.. in case we do for the finals

So the equations pretty simple

India win = Australia and India into finals
Australia win = Lanka still have a chance if they beat India on Tues and Aus on Fri..

Ok another win for Aussies and they now have a place in the finals booked for themselves, but there is a lot of room for improvement, the batting really needs to improve otherwise we could pay for it during the more important games, as the bowlers can't always bail us out of trouble, but great to see Clarke showing the kind of maturity he has shown right through this series, so well done pup, keep it going!

I wonder if we'll ever find out the name of the anonymous 'senior' Australian player who complained about the power and money of the BCCI during the Aussie tour, and see what he thinks now after signing the contract. Of course, if that player was Clarke, my respect went up for him ten fold for putting his money where his mouth was.

I m excited abt the next two CB games involving Ind coz I m looking forward to see what combination Ind goes with

Ideally, I would prefer a balanced side with 4 bowlers and a bowling all-rounder in Pathan batting at #7 but since Ind has faltered in the batting dept, may be playing to its strengths and getting in an extra bat could be useful esp at Sydney where the pitch supports spin and the Ind part-timer spinners could be handful .... And playing 7 batters also means that the guys can get a decent hit in the middle for the next two games and then in final, may be Ind can select the 6 best batters in form from it and play 4 bowlers and Pathan as the bowling all-rounder

Below is my preferred line up for the game at Sydney against OZ

top order ----> Sehwag, Gambhir & Rohit
middle order ----> Tendulkar & Yuvi
Lower order ----> Dhoni, Uthappa & Pathan
Bowlers ----> Chawla, Ishant & Sree / Munaf

cheers

I read this, totally agree with everything you said. Never thought of it that way tbh.
