Haven't been around for a while because work's been a bitch, and I've split up with my wife - So all in all BT hasn't been massively high on my list of priorities. It's been so far so good this season, but the signs are ominous. Despite still having a hundred percent record in all competitions, the wins have been much harder-fought than in previous seasons, and while I play a long game with my training, it appears that other Div.III sides are catching me up - In the short-term at least.

In four FC innings, have only passed 300 once, but still won both matches, yesterday's by eight runs, after following on 219 behind, and only having a lead of 95 to bowl at last up.

Last week I had a relatively straight forward OD win over Spaceman's XI, who'll struggle in our league, but this week will be tougher. Murphy's Sweaty Box eventually finished 2nd last season, after I gave up on the OD league, and their PAN ratings are very similar to mine - I'm Wond top order to their Rem, and their Qual Seam to my Sup, but other than that we're identical. So I'm GFIing, winning toss and bowling on an Uneven pitch on a sunny day, so don't really have a good idea of what's a par score. Their currently 142/1 after 30, which my gut instinct tells me is a bit ahead of the eight-ball?

I guess I'm pretty happy with my first team, and the progress they're making, but I don't really have the depth or quality of squad to manage PFL and consistently fight for honours in both codes.

Finally:

End of Over 40: 98-10, runrate=2.45
Piercy 10-1-31-2
Supple* 44 (84 balls)

That was a ground record for the 9th wicket, at 60 runs. Hmm; just noticed that while my batsmen hold the records for the first four wickets at my ground, they have none of the records for wickets 5-10. Must get myself some more batting depth... :)

Edit: Ah, crap; sorry to hear that Trev. Best wishes to you - hope you get a break soon.

Cheers guys, but I really don't have anyone to blame apart from myself, because A, I'm 29 going on 18, and I just reckon that 'Er Indoors' just wants a quiet life - And B, when I get down I'm a bit of a typical bloke and think that if I don't talk about it then it'll go away. Says lots about me that I've just written more about myself to you guys in the last paragraph than I've told my friends and family in months. Still you've got to take the rough with the smooth! Being single again just means less clean clothes and nice food, but more beer and hopefully more ***!! And I'll always have my daughter out of it, so it's not all bad at all.

Anyway, enough of this sentimental slush - Back to the cricket! Have managed to put the brakes on a bit, and now have Murphy's Sweaty Box 190/2 after 41. Don't really want to have to chase much more than 220/230, so hoping that Bewers can magic up a BT collapse in the last ten.

Crap, 257/5. I wouldn't say I was out of it altogether, but they should have too many runs for me on an Uneven pitch,, even though it's sunny. I'm starting to think that weather has more of an effect on the match engine than we reckoned - Certainly in FC in any case.

Plus Greening's down at No.4 as he's knackered after his Bothamesque 179* in yesterday's second, follow-on innings, so if I'm not careful then Akhtar and Noon are going to bugger about for too long and not leve Greening enough time to take their weaker bowlers apart.

Sorry to hear about your wife Trev, never a good thing. At least you still have BT

All over, for a satisfying victory against a former div III team. Slightly spoiled by the fact that he's plainly not trying any more, but never mind; I'm still unbeaten in IV, which I certainly didn't expect to last longer than a week.

And that's the end of the match. Beard XI won by 9 wickets.
william 98-10 (Pead 5-14)
Beard XI 99-1 (Liebenberg 37*, Bromby 32)

Well, Akhtar and Noon buggered about indeed - On their way to a 124 opening partnership inside twenty overs! Noon's gone for 55, but Akhtar, touch wood, is on course for a first OD century, on 81 (90) of our 160/1 in 27. If I lose this from here I'll sell my whole squad and start again!

Made it home eventually, the BT collapse coming too late to help Murphy's Sweaty Box, after Akhtar and Noon blitzed the first half of the innings...Though it was slightly brown trousers when we lost three for ten in the run-in.

Murphy's Sweaty Box 257/4, Vermaak 99, Gilbert 74, Bewers 3/57.
Cymru Gurgitaters 259/4, Akhtar 116, Staveley 55, Noon 55, Mcgregor 2/41

Spin Bowling: proficient proficient

Gives me a new BatStats best of 199, although that sounds a bit high. I've forgotten what you do about fielding? Put it this way, my ranking is 144 +Med Fielding. I've counted Med fielding as 5X 11 =55, but if that's not right then perhaps someone could set me straight please?

Looking at the ratings I didn't really need to GFI, but I had no idea that their bowling ratings would take such a pounding from craply managed PFLs.

Think we've been doing it as just 1*fielding, Trev, giving you 149.

Ludicrously, I'm top of my league on NRR. Ace. Pulled in 350k profit, too, to take me back over the 1.6m mark. Great week for the Beards.

I don't know how we won this match but I'll take it. Great all round batting performance with my whole top 6 scoring 30 plus each. Schutte and Hirst lead the bowling attack, but McDonald and Carlisle are finding their feet as change bowlers.

Going to GFI a match pretty soon. :@

I've made a good start to the season so far, and If i can pull a decent bowler I should go alright in the OD games.
