***Official*** West Indies in Zimbabwe and South Africa

Gibbs bags a pair. Has to be replaced now. Great to see West Indies dominating this match. I think they've got a solid core of fast bowlers and with Sarwan, Gayle, Ganga and Chanderpaul a few Test class batsmen as well.

I'm willing to listen and debate too.

Also, I think that the game is (obviously) out of SA hands, not even these two stone-wallers at their best can stop what is coming.
Shaun Pollock should be in the side for Andre Nel, while Herschelle Gibbs needs to be dropped. I'd also seriously consider getting rid of Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers, but they have put runs on the board just lately. Graeme Smith is safe because he's the captain, but he certainly shouldn't be.

Cable in Australia not showing this game tonight :thumbdown

Is there any legit radio station that is doing an audio stream of this match that anyone knows?

Agree with the Pollock swap 100%, but as to whether that will happen is another question. But it is probably for the best South Africa lose this game, so it can go back to old faithful. You may know this already or not, but one of the posters on here said that Morne Morkel, when fit, will be a straight swap for Nel. So the SA selectors have already penciled in a long term plan for their team.

And this leads us to the batsmen. It's hard to say whether they are out of form or not. Smith and AB should be opening, even though both have not been scoring many runs lately, I get the feeling that they are both parts of the bigger picture (include Amla in this too); young and talented.

Who would you like to see in the team? The options seem to be McKenzie, Boeta and Duminy.

It won't happen, and for some reason Pollock seems to be out of favour with the selectors despite him having a number of things in his favour. Not to mention Andre Nel being poor for a while now.

I'd rather select a 30 year old who is more likely to put runs on the board in the immediate future than a 23 year old who isn't going to do much, but could be a very good Test batsman in the future.

Ideally, I'd pick the following XI for South Africa.

Smith (c)
Dippenaar
Duminy
Kallis
Prince
McKenzie
Boucer (wk)
Pollock
Harris/Morkel (depending on conditions)
Steyn
Ntini

My team would look like:

Smith
AB
Kallis
Amla
Prince
Duminy
Boucher
Pollock
Harris/pacebowler
Styen
Ntini

As for the old v young debate, I don't think there is all that much separating all those in question.

Very interested to see what Kallis does here. On paper this situation is made for him. Has four and a half sessions to bat and 320-odd runs to score. If De Villiers/Boucher can keep him company this could be special.

True, but if you don't know the score what is the difference?

I also suggested a channel just for cricket:cool:
I feel the difference Archie.

When I watch a replay It does not give me the same aura as a live match, I would prefer to listen live on the radio than watch a replay. Particularly as it looks like the West Indies are about to do something dramatic in the first test.

I like the cricket channel idea.

Fair enough:)

I forgot to tell them Test cricket only:@

Jackman just said that in the last 36 test innings SA have had only 6 opening stands of 50 and 1 of 100. Gibbs & Smith selected on rep only just now, it seems.

Dippenaar & McKenzie both averaging over 50 opening in their domestic comp this year too, apparently.

Fox Sports cricket! Would be awesome.

They should also start showing Pura Cup games on Fox. I reckon that'd be a huge selling point to a lot of people.

Yes I would watch and even county cricket (do they even show the County Championship in the Old Dart?)

Not sure, I think they show the One Day games though since I've seen a fair bit of that on YouTube.

Hope they show a few U-19 WC matches next year...Really would love it if they did that. The Aussie matches only at least.

Sadly mate, I think absolute die hard cricket tragics like you and I are few and far between...I don't think that sort of thing would get huge ratings.
