Nothing. Unless you think every batsman in the history of the game should be punished too. As others have mentioned, claiming a catch and not saying "Nah mate, that wasn't out, I didn't catch it" when an umpire gives it out is no different to not walking despite knowing you've hit it and the umpire giving it not out.

Both rely on the honesty system. You can't believe in one form of it and not the other. Unless you're a raging hypocrite.

TBH you do all too often initiate chains of worthless posts. I'm as guilty as anyone at getting involved in them, of course, but for anyone other than the two involved chains like that are of precisely zero interest whatsoever.

The point of forums is to stay on topic and discuss the topic of the thread which is what others come to the thread to discuss and not to read through people having a chat session about absolutely nothing.

Well, Perm directly contributed to getting that "Kiwi Chat" thread closed down a couple of weeks ago, which had been created to prevent this sort of chat stuff cluttering other threads whilst Phlegm didn't have MSN. Frankly, Perm has made his bed here - and although fiery's not meeting the rules - I think there needs to be some understanding of cause and consequence before condemnation.

As for the topic of Clarke's catch, I personally think that in the replay you can clearly see him adjust his hands as the realisation dawns that he can't catch it and instead tries to stop the ball. The hands, previously pointing fingers upwards turn noticeably so that the fingers point down, pushing the ball to grass. Deliberate to my mind, and a real deception. However, as pointed out by others; this wouldn't have made an iota of difference to the game result.

Don't know the incident but I don't think it matters whether it affected the result. If Man U are 4-0 up and Ronaldo takes a filthy dive in the 90th for a penalty, I'd actually be more disgusted than if it was 0-0, because it would be cheating just to cheat. So if Clarke did knowingly cheat, then that's pretty ****ty
