i must say Patel not playing baffles me.. he would've been hard to get away and spinners are the go in Adelaide

Hogg bowled wonderfully..lovely drift..no slip annoyed me
Hogg was great bar those two full tosses but otherwise excellent. I really hope there's some swing so Mills and Gillespie can do as much damage as possible before they have to bowl at the death and get carted.

We underachieved in that innings, should at least have got 270. Bracewell has gone mad and played Gillespie and Martin in the same team and left out Patel. Martin to get absolutely slaughtered
And Sinclair at 7 8-) (and that from me is a rareity)

FFS I can see why he got out, I know it was a poor shot but by putting him down the order and come in at the hitting spell, he had to play against his natural game, couldn't get going and felt he had to play a big shot and got out. That really made my blood boil, not so much for the wicket, but to throw him down in that position is just a waste and that Bracewell will probably drop him now.

It is like expecting Afridi to bat for a day to save a Test match. It just won't work.

Heh. Martin bowling beautifully as Flem storms off to go get his voodoo dolls.

The ball is not coming onto the bat very well and timing the ball is getting tough due to this so likes of Styris and Oram would do well to bowl a lot of cutters and Vettori would be hard to score off on this pitch but seriously i just can't understand why the Black caps haven't played Patel on this track.

Won't happen again, he's improved a bit but is just as dire as Gillespie really overall.

If Vettori doesn't get a fifer, bye bye game. Hoping Mills runs through them a bit TBH, he's a better bowler than todays figures tell, he's a champ.

Hometime for Gillespie and Martin, they aint one day bowlers. It's despicable one of them was included ahead of Jeetan Patel, absolutely disgracefull.

And yes I know I sound like I'm spitting the dummy but it's time for our ******** selectors and coach to realize some players are either one day or test specialists. Martin and Gillespie are test specialists.

Seeing Hopkins in the squad makes my blood boil, Fulton should be in the playing eleven FFS, and Adams with the form he is in should make the squad, same with Scott, they can't be any worse than Martin and especially Gillespie.

That batting order needs rearranging too because as Craig said, there's players all over the show.

Because our selectors are still in the Jurrassic Period.

Him in full flow and Oram batting together in the final ten would just be great to watch. Often I think the problem about the New Zealand team is that a lot them have talent but never make the most of it. Craig McMillan being one, Jesse Ryder if he is starting to pull his head in (?), Brendon McCullum at times can be very frustrating and the same with Lou Vincent. Players like Mathew Sinclair just get stuffed around by selectors and then we have players who can't stay fit longer then Parramatta Eels half back Tim Smith can stay off the booze (NRL fans will get this).

AWTA alot.

Is it against the spirit of the game to bowl bouncers at the body just to injure the batsman? Its something I'm toying with in my transition from medium to faster than medium and if we can't get the Aussies out, why not break their ribs? Dale Steyn killed us constantly. Hell, Gillespie has pace, get him to crank up to mid 140's and bowl six bouncers and see if we can intimidate and maybe injure a few of them.

Yes I am a ****, tell me something I don't know.

NZ again dives into ordinariness. There is no consistency amongst any player on the field in any form (batt, bowl, field) from NZ lately and that just works into the formidable and excellent Aussie players hands.

Adams is rubbish. Just because he's having a field day on the traditional december green tops, doesn't mean he's suddenly become a world class player. Send him over to Australia and he'd go for no fewer than 7 an over. And Scott's just your average medium pace lefty. I wouldn't expect much more out of him, than we got from Lance Hamilton when he made his spectacular ODI debut a couple of seasons ago. The awful fact is that we're cruelly short of decent seamers, with both Bond and Franklin out. Realistically Martin or Mason are probably just about the best of the rest, as sad as that is. Agreed about Fulton and to a lesser extent Patel though, and that there needs to be a reshuffling in the batting which is just a great steaming mess at the moment.

We don't know we're short of em until we test a few. I'd rather try a couple of options just to see if we can find someone better, even if its only a marginal difference.

I think it was Perm that suggested three spinners? (McCullum, Vettori, Patel) It could be worth a go, there'd be less pace on the ball with which to socre off.

i must say...this game is remarkably similar to the first game of the CB Series earlier this year... at the MCG

if yall remember England batted first and made something like 240.... they batted there entire innings but Aussies were restrictive like today

when we batted Gilly was on FIRE.. smashed Freddy for six but then got out and Ponting and Pup had to do the repair work and the game was quite tense... (not sure how Haydos went out)

Pup and Punter were not out at the end and Aussies won by 7 or 8 wickets... (8 i guess..) they batted superbly like now....

i think this game means much more though being a best of 3 thing... and tougher opposition
