I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Yeah agreed, Scott needs to get a game sooner or later. Ditto Thompson. Though I think they're more test bowlers than limited overs, but I'd like to see what they can do.
Umm, so they have the right to challenge for the chappell-hadlee since you were humiliated 3-nil less than around 10 months ago, short memory you have ladwhy are NZ allowed to play us?
And has lead his AFL club to a slow death, yeah you have to wonder...The commentary is terrible. When it falls on Slater, Healy and Nicholas you really do miss Richie, Bill and Tony. Slater and Heals are so cringeworthy in my opinion - and I know I'm part of the minority who hate Nicholas.
Brayshaw started out OK - but by the end left you wondering whether he was leaving his wife for Roy.
'Us?'why are NZ allowed to play us?
So why aren't there any good Australian spinners who average less then 35 bar MacGill? I mean Hogg averages 38 and we are also considering a bloke who is 35 and has played only a handful of FC games no matter how well he has bowled. It wasn't just an ordinary random state player who got picked it was Pomers who is one of the most talented young players in Australian cricket atm, so that further shows how strong the depth of the Australian cricket is.
He is Australian though, and the Australian cricket team represent the nation of Australia.'Us?'
I never knew you played for Australia.
Oh please. The depth in every single department bar spin bowling is remarkable. So why aren't there any good Australian spinners who average less then 35 bar MacGill? I mean Hogg averages 38 and we are also considering a bloke who is 35 and has played only a handful of FC games no matter how well he has bowled.
To me it makes as though you play for them. It is him that I problem with though, he is the biggest troll I've seen in a while. He is Australian though, and the Australian cricket team represent the nation of Australia.
Always annoys me when people have a problem with others saying 'us' when it comes to sports teams.
Just felt like clarifying, I meant Channel 9 was biased, not Gilly. I enjoyed Gilly. The whole game felt like one big joke (in a good way)...and that's the spirit I reckon 20/20 should be played in.Gilly loves it. He's clearly hankering after a spot in the Channel 9 commentory box. Was totally biased but no surprise in that.
Bradley (and yes, pup11, I know him, so I can use his first name...) isn't that brisk. He would have been euphemistically called "medium" a few years ago when I faced him, and while he's quickened up a bit, I'd say he's struggling to crack 130kmh. Feisty, competitive allround cricketer though.Gillespie shouldn't play ODI's. Just 20/20 and tests. The reason he should play 20/20 is because of that ripper of a yorker that he can bowl. Mills probably shouldn't play 20/20 because he really isn't a good death bowler.
I'd like to see that bloke Bradley Scott get a game, he's been hanging around the team for a while now and would be far far better than Martin in ODI's. He's a bit like Jimmy Franklin but with more variation and better control but not the same amount of swing and has around Kyle Mills' pace and batting ability. That seems to be the general consensus from commentators and CWers anyway. In good form ATM too.
I was not questioning his talent, obviously has a huge amount of natural ability to put up some of the performances he has so early in his career. What an absolute load of tripe. Pomers is one of the hardest working cricketers on his game in Australia, and anyone who has been anywhere near the Academy will testify to this. He obviously has a huge passion for the game, and has achieved some bloody massive things already. Sure he loves sinking piss, but how many 23 year olds in our culture don't really?
Didn't seem very professional? No CA contract means he'd have an incredibly small amount of idea of how to deal with the media and act in interviews because of no training. Couple this with the fact that 5 hours before hand he was probably looking forward to kick back with a nice relaxing evening at the cricket...
Before he even played a first-class game he had scored centuries against England and South African attacks featuring all of their bowlers! Magnificent talent and will definitely play for Australia for some time at all levels.
Shane Warne averages 35 in Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup cricket. So why aren't there any good Australian spinners who average less then 35 bar MacGill? I mean Hogg averages 38 and we are also considering a bloke who is 35 and has played only a handful of FC games no matter how well he has bowled.
Bitter...And has lead his AFL club to a slow death, yeah you have to wonder...
I never said we are perfect mate!So why aren't there any good Australian spinners who average less then 35 bar MacGill? I mean Hogg averages 38 and we are also considering a bloke who is 35 and has played only a handful of FC games no matter how well he has bowled.
You're forgetting that Voges has a good 5 years on him. I'm sure Pomersbach will be a very different cricketer then. Hopefully his experience in the Australian team acts as a carrot in that he won't mess up anymore since he's had a taste of what he can achieve...It'll probably just make him even more hungry to get there.I was not questioning his talent, obviously has a huge amount of natural ability to put up some of the performances he has so early in his career.
I have honestly not seen enough of him to form a solid opinion (as I doubt most people have), however those are just my early impressions of him, he reminds me of Cosgrove in that he obviously has all the talent anyone could want however he seems a bit wayward and to me he dosent really fit this modern mould of ultra-proffesional, all-bases-covered Australian cricketers the way someone like Voges seems to...
And he would have been given reasonably detailed instruction on dealing with the media despite not having a CA contract as he has spent time at the academy (as you point out) and I believe thats one of the things they place alot of emphasis on there...
Also nothing wrong with sinking the piss, however sinking the piss at inappropriate times (must mean before matches or major training sessions otherwise nobody would care) during three consecutive seasons and being very slow to take the warnings on board does hint at a bit of a slack attitude.
I'm not saying I dont think he'll succeed or that I think he's rubbish or that I dislike him in any way, this is just the impression Ive developed from what I've seen, heard and read of him so far.
3 - Ponting, Lee and Gilchrist. We're missing Fulton, Franklin and Bond. Fleming and McMillan have retired. If we lose, we have that as our excuse if you have that as your excuse for losing to us 3-0We were missing 5 or 6 of our key players TBH but losing to them 3 zip was a bit embarrassing especially losing after piling up huge totals. Well disappointed that Noffers didn't get much of chance show his skills (batting or bowling) in this game.
I want Fulton and Fleming back damn it.3 - Ponting, Lee and Gilchrist. We're missing Fulton, Franklin and Bond. Fleming and McMillan have retired. If we lose, we have that as our excuse if you have that as your excuse for losing to us 3-0
Anyone hear this on the radio last night?:
*Matt Gun and caller whining about Bond being injured*
Caller: "So he's out?"
Matt Gun: "yup"
Caller: "Is Martin still there?"
Matt Gun: "Yeah but he's not in the team"
Caller: "Oh no we're going to lose now to the Aussies, he's our best bowler"
Matt Gun: "Yeah he's come a long way now as a bowler"
Honestly, it's no wonder we struggle when people are so misinformed.
