Now on his own as Test cricket's greatest wicket taker.

A fine achievement, and appropriate he took the wicket in Sri Lanka.

How long will he go on for now?

Given fitness and motivation, he could easily go on another 3 or 4 years I reckon.

Hope so, certainly. Would love to see him get 1,000, even more so 1,000 in deserving Tests.

He caaaan't go on forever...with these suspicious minds (suspiciooous maiaiands).

Good work Murali! I reckon he'll get 811.

I love the way he accurately describes his batting, TBH. Not like these typical tailenders who overrate themselves.

Classic quote

And asked about the delivery that got No. 709 he admits: "I meant to spin it one way and the ball went the other way."

What hope does the batsman have?

Congrats and he'll hold the record for years

If that's a genuine Elvis adaptation it's a contender for, never mind the Skull, the Yankovic!

I doubt his eventual record will ever be broken tbh. He will probably end up with more than 800 wickets. A bowler with a really long career of 150 tests and who averages 5 wickets per test ( which is more than McGrath, Marshall, Warne) will still only get 750.

They thought Trueman's 300 would never be done again, and it wasn't just Richie Benaud, it was common wisdom.

It may be broken sometime in 2146, but I don't see it being done any time soon.
