Misbah gets his maiden ton. Fair play to him and good to see the congratulations from Akmal when he got his ton and likewise from Misbha when Skmal tonned up.

They have set have set a new partnership at Eden Gardens as well.

Haven't been able to watch much of the game but it looks like a fantastic partnership between Misbah and Akmal with the latter answering a lot of critics. It looks unlikely that India will able to enforce the follow-on so it will be interesting to see what kind of target they will set; if at all.

oh damn thats a shame..
and especially with only 60 runs to get...(the follow on target)

hope the tail sticks around with Misbah... Misbah seems to play well with the tail ..much like another Ul-Haq

Great fightback from the duo. Let's hope Pakistanis don't have a brain fart in morning and go past the follow on target easily. Ideally we need to play out at least another session and a half.

Spot on.

Sticking my neck out 'Pakistan to get 500'

Whether Pakistan get to the follow on target or not, India need to bat again. Chasing any 5th innings total will be quite hard.

Doubtful if India will enforce the follow on now even if Pakistan fail to avoid it.

Younis dissociates himself from team selection

Whats happening ??

Younis Khan, standing in as captain for the injured Shoaib Malik, has dissociated himself from the decision to include Shoaib Akhtar in the playing XI for the second Test, saying such questions should be put to decision-makers and not to him.

"I am not captain here, nor the coach," Younis wrote in his column in the Hindustan Times on Sunday. "I've been asked about the decision to to play Shoaib who is obviously not well. I am not responsible for certain decisions that have been taken. I was informed on the morning of the match that I would lead the team and I'm doing my best in leading a team that has been given to me."

Shoaib Akhtar, who took six wickets in the first Test, was laid low by a chest infection ahead of the second match in Kolkata and was taken to hospital for treatment. Mohammad Sami was also suffering from a chest infection but both were included in the XI.

Younis also wrote that, had he been part of the decision-making process, he would have done things differently. But he admitted the coach and the manager were in an uncomfortable position at the start of the Test as Pakistan faced several injury problems. "[They had] to count bodies and see whether we could field a full team or not."

Those fools didn't get visas for reserve players,Abdur Rauf,Muhammad Irshad & Iftikhar? now have Visas and would be sent if the selection committee feels their need for the third test. But trust me,Irshad & Abdur Rauf are not going to play in near future because they don't have "sifarish" or money to bribe the selectors.

Both Rauf and Irshad are waste of space.

One thing that Geoff Lawson is not is a fool - very intelligent cricket brain and mind in general.

Pakistan should stick with him and things will look up IMO

Akmal needs to be appreciated for the innings he played today but I still don't think he deserves to be in the team as a wicket keeper.Taslim Arif was so good with the bat that could've made the Pakistan side as a batsman alone(he was an opening batsman) & even scored a double hundred against Australia but Imran Khan refused to play him in more matches saying "I don't need a keeper who scores 40 runs an annings but dances behind the wicket droping important catches & missing stumps".A crap bowler doesn't deserve to play even if he scores a double hundred, similarly a poor keeper doesn't deserve to play regardless of how is he with the bat.Imran Khan, the best captain ever was not a fool that he prefered a poor batsman but good keeper Wasim Bari over a poor keeper but a good batsman Taslim Arif.If they want Akmal to keep playing,it should be as a specialist batsman asking him to perform more consistently & hand over the job of keeping to someone like Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Agree with you somewhat there BS, but I get the feeling that this ton was exactly what was missing and will give him the confidence to get better at his keeping. I'm not sure if it is a coincidence that his keeping got worse as his batting form disappeared.

I agree, his form as a keeper was brilliant till the tour to England last summer but I think he got a thumb injury in to the tour and since then he has not recovered.
