It looks like Amla and Kallis are going to bore NZ to death again. *"pass me the grapes please, luv...nah, not those ones, the ripe ones"*

Must be so bittersweet for Prince EWS, this. In heaven watching one end then would want to throw his TV out the window on the other :p

Anyways to state the obvious, NZ can get as many early wickets as they want, it doesn't mean much unless they can get Kallis here. Good start from NZ though, wish Bond was playing :(

I don't have as much against Amla as I once did. As I said earlier in this thread, he's improved his technique remarkably in recent times. It's still not great or anything, but it's better than a few others going around. He's still a bit wristy and loose outside off at times but he's improved his trigger movements, backlift, backward defense and off-stump judgement to a degree where he's passable to me. :p

Martin bowling well, as predicted. Before this test, he had 42 wickets @ 23 vs South Africa, which is very good and very suprising.

Does Graeme Smith deserve his place in this SA lineup on batting alone?
Yeah. He sucks against Chris Martin and always has but he had a decent enough tour of Pakistan IIRC and still averages over 46 with the bat at test level. Granted he hasn't been at the top of his game in the last year or two but he's in safer waters, even on batting alone, than Gibbs, as he's still a better opener than Dippenaar.

Should NZ just say to Smith, "look, just say you've scored 550/3. We will be behind by 370. Can we start our innings now?"

FFS, it's obviously that Kallis will score 250 plus. Why bother bowling all these overs? It will only injure some more of our bowlers.

Yeah, it doesn't do much apart from highlight just how excruciatingly piss-poor guys like O'Brien and Gillespie are at test level

Kallis tons up with consecutive fours off Styris - great innings once again. (For the fans out there, I think this is 5 centuries on the trot now).

Hyperbole? Kallis getting past 200....
