Yeah if your going to do something, might as well do it right. What about Stuart MacGill for Adam Gilchrist?

Jarrad Burke wouldn't be a bad option.Simmons, Mail, Hughes, Cooper (bats at 3, but can open), Burke, Khawaja and Warner (again a number 3, but can open).
Plenty of opening options. even if four are rookies and one for some reason lost his contract.
Also you can add Greame Rummans and Corey Richards to the list. Yeah there might not be any real stand out options. But enough options so you can play a specialist batsmen there, rather then a bits and pieces all rounder.Jarrad Burke wouldn't be a bad option.
Usman Khawaja - don't rate him at all. Scored a few runs here and there and started this season off ok...
Dave Warner - never seen him open the batting at all. doesn't have the temperemant. gun batsman though.
but if your going to go off grade cricket form than Lambert is easily your man and based on that form he is hardly a bit and pieces all rounder... for whatever reason he just hasn't put it together at state level. Also you can add Greame Rummans and Corey Richards to the list. Meh based on grade form Rummans is your man, leading run scorer in grade cricket. Also if you want a player that dominates grade cricket and probably be never be good enough to FC cricket they Craig Simmons is your man. Been a dominate player at grade and 2nd XI level his whole career, both in Sydney and Perth. Atleast I guess with Simmons his still young and can turn his career around.but if your going to go off grade cricket form than Lambert is easily your man and based on that form he is hardly a bit and pieces all rounder... for whatever reason he just hasn't put it together at state level.
Warner isn't an opener - well, maybe at best in One Dayers, but definitely not in First Class cricket.Simmons, Mail, Hughes, Cooper (bats at 3, but can open), Burke, Khawaja and Warner (again a number 3, but can open).

Wade's class. Very strong through the leg side, and very good off the back foot. A good gloveman, but probably more of a natural with regards to hand eye co-ordination, rather than a natural gloveman. Knows his batting game really well.Yep, he must have been hell nervous, hope he makes a big score today.
Just looking at the Victorian game, Wade is currently 39*. He seems like he's started his first class career well. I've not actually seen him yet, what is he like?
Would he be in front of Hartley already for an Australian spot (behind Gilly, Haddin, Ronchi)?
The batting of Noffke and Bichel is not helping Hartley's chances as he's now batting at number 9. Probably a fair spot for him as his batting seems to have dropped alot recently.
Don't see Clingeleffer even being on the radar as ever playing test cricket. Can't imagine it will be long until Paine takes his spot in the Shield side - the kid is class.Wade's class. They're still using Crosthwaite in the one dayers. It'd be interesting to see whether Paine is in front of Clingeleffer (sp) in the queue for Test cricket.
Should have played Test cricket. Looks like he's only just regained that extra yard of pace - lost it late in his time with Victoria. These sort of figures were what he manufactured a lot of the time when he was in his prime.Yeah, the move to WA may well be the best decision in Inness' career.
They obviously rate Clingeleffer's glovework ahead of Paine's though. Also, I think Tasmania are doing a good job of managing Paine's prosects. They're pushing him as a future Test batsman for Australia, as well as a future keeper for Australia.Don't see Clingeleffer even being on the radar as ever playing test cricket.
