Not Terrible
Sure, or you can admit that Hadlee is a green top bully. And what happened to all that fire Shane Bond was sprouting about Indians not being able to handle him - looks like you all might've been better with him in the ambulance as usual.
Drop Bond bring in Patel. Sounds like a plan.

Aussie, you should post each set - once per day. That would keep it interesting :).
I'll try my best, no promises though given my hectic school schedule n ladies time. Its 2:39 in the morning ATM up studying a bit, so i'll try but it won't be a set time or anything..

Just wondering for the India and NZ match how much time was left in the match?

490+ overs were bowled in that match. It should have been a draw IMO, even with a good amount of spinners playing.
word, thought so myself when i finished it. But i guess the fact that India had 4 spinners made it possible, and 4 overs were left so i guess you can say India won in the dark..

Round 3 Preview

txt,Game 9: Australia vs India, W.A.C.A, Perth

After a slightly disappointing result at home against the Englishmen where slow over-rates from both sides eventually costed them a potential victory, the Indian come into this clash vs the aussies on the world famous W.A.C.A ground knowing everyone is expecting them to be blown away on a pitch known throughout history for its extravagant pace and extra bounce. So to counter it, even though alot will depend on the maestro trio of Gavaskar, Tendulkar & Dravid to score the runs all the Indian batsmen are expected to take a very aggressive approach & not back down from the Australian pacers while in the bowling they have called up pacers Mohammad Nissar, Javagal Srinath & Amar Singh to replace Bedi & Prasanna respectively while Chandrasekar was included along with Kumble as the selectors looked to keep their options open for the match. Bradman's Australia's on the other hand after two victories are expected to be unchanged although Allan Davidson is called up with the possibility of the aussies unleashing a 5-prong pace assault on the Indians.

Australia (probable): Simpson, Hayden, Bradman, Chappell, Waugh, Miller, Gilchrist, Lindwall, Warne/Davidson, Lillee, McGrath.

Indian touring squad: Gavaskar, Merchant, Dravid, Tendulkar, Hazare, Umrigar, Mankad, Kapil Dev, Kirmani, Nissar, Amar Singh, Srinath, Kumble, Chandrasekar.

Game 10: New Zealand vs England, Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand

Both the Kiwis & the three lions come into this important test match on the back of an indifferent start to the series. The Kiwis agonisingly lost in India after battling very hard to stay in the test match, then where blown away by their trans-tasman rivals, while the English lost disappointingly at home to Australians while battling away to draw in India. So literally both sides will be looking to go all out for full-points in this test match.

The Kiwis are not expecting to make any major changes to their battling line-up just yet but with the conditions expected to favour the seamers a great deal the tall lanky Bruce Taylor & left-armer Richard Collinge have been recruited to strenghted the pace battery. England have recalled Syd Barnes in a horses for courses swap with Jim Laker.

New Zealand (probable): Turner, Dempster, Sutcliffe, Crowe, Donnelly, Reid, Cairns, Hadlee, Smith, Vettori/Taylor, Bond.

England (probable): Hutton, Hobbs, Hammond, Compton, Barrington, Stewart, Botham, Rhodes, Trueman, Snow, Barnes.

Game 11: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Ibn-e-Qasim Bagh Stadium, Multan, Pakistan

After falling short against the West Indies in a match the Pakistani's hyped for weeks before that they would win, they will be looking to rebound in this test with a win vs Sri Lanka. The pitch in Multan looks a dustbowl so one off Saqlain Mushtaq, Iqbal Qasim, Initkhab Alam or Mushtaq Ahmed is likely to be called up in place of Akhtar or Waqar to partner Abdul Qadir although to talk is that Saqlain will get the nod. While Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga is unwilling to make changes claiming he believes given the strenght of some of the other nations he is better off backing his players to come good rather than axing them too quickly especially after an encouraging performance at home in the last round.

Pakistan (probable): Anwar, Mohammad, Abbas, Miandad, Inzamam, Imran Khan, Latif, Akram, Saqlain, Qadir, Waqar.

Sri Lanka (probable): Jayasuriya, Atapattu, Dias/Gurusinha, A De Silva, Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Ranatunga, Vaas, S De Silva, Muralitharan, Malinga.

Game 12: West Indies vs South Africa, Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad

The West Indies come into this test full of confidence after overcoming Pakistan in a very hostile enviroment to be joint series leaders along with Australia with two wins. The South Africans after chocking shocking at home to tie with Pakistan, they battled hard in tough conditions in Sri Lanka & a Sanath Jayasuriya assualt to record a hard fought win after setting them over 400 to win in Galle. The West Indies will always start favourites in their home conditions & given the very green but slow look to the Queen's park oval pitch it seemed as if the batsmen on both sides will have to work hard for their runs.

West Indies (probable): Hunte, Greenidge, Lara, Headley, Richards, Sobers, Dujon, Marshall, Holding, Garner, Ambrose.

South Africa (probable): Mitchell, Richards, Kallis, G Pollock, Nourse, Rice, Lindsay, Procter, P Pollock, Tayfield, Donald.

About time to bring in Ricky Ponting!!!!

How much longer are we going to carry Bradman as he’s obviously in the worst form of his career having only managed 296 runs @ 59.20 :-O .....okay, maybe he should get one more chance as Steve Waugh would volunteer to stand down so that both Bradman and Ponting can play (besides Waugh's struggling with only 177 runs @ 35.40)

Good thing we have Gilchrist (70.25), Chappell (69.75) and Hayden (65.20) in form, not to mention Millers all-round effort of 53.80 with the bat and 27.40 with the ball ;)

The Wheel is Forever
Typical Indian team looking like lions at home and lambs away. Pretty disgusted at our bowling attack at Perth. The batting was bad, but not as bad as the bowling. I was pulling for you Nissar and Singh, and this is how you show gratitude? Will you really make me add you to the great Indian wheel of mediocrity?

Round 4 preview

txt, Game 13: Australia vs Pakistan, Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woollongabba,Australia

After overcoming the Indians convincingly at the W.A.C.A, Australia now turned attentions to Pakistan in their third straight home test in what to date will be probably their toughest test match of the tournament. On a gabba wicket that traditionally gives the fast bowlers on both sides great bounce and movement, spinners very fast spin of the surface & batsmen good value for shots, this test match is likely to be a keen tustle between bat & ball.

Australia are after 3 solid test match wins likely to be unchanged, while Pakistan are likely to recall the Rawalpindi express & with the workload captain Imran Khan has already put in Asif Iqbal drafted in to replace Qadir to bolster the batting.

Australia: Simpson, Hayden, Bradman, Chappell, Waugh, Miller, Gilchrist, Lindwall, Warne, Lillee, McGrath.

Pakistan: Anwar, Mohammad, Abbas, Miandad, Inzamam, Iqbal, Imran, Wasim, Latif, Akhtar, Waqar.

Game 14: England vs South Africa, The AMP Oval, London, England

Both South Africa level & England will be looking to gain full points in this 4th round test match after starting slowing to date in this series. South Africa will be looking to rebound from a heartbreaking loss in West Indies where they capitulated on the final day chasing 232 while England will be looking to build on their morale boosting win in New Zealand. But the task will not be made easy given the very flat but hard nature of the Oval pitch, that even if it will give the quicks good bounce & carry the batsman on both sides will backing themselves to score freely in this test.

With regards to selection England are likely to be keep the winning side from New Zealand but given the nature of the pitch the the extra pace of Harold Larwood could be considered if the variation of Barnes is deemed to be a negative option. While the South Africans have form worries over old age players Bruce Mitchell & Dudley Nourse, so with the likes of Gary Kirsten, Jimmy Cook, Daryll Cullinan, Peter Kirsten, Herbie Taylor all knocking on the door, the selectors have some hard decisions to make.

England (probable): Hutton, Hobbs, Hammond, Compton, Barrington, Stewart, Botham, Rhodes, Trueman, Snow, Barnes/Larwood.

South Africa (probable): Mitchell/Kirsten, Richards, Kallis, G Pollock, Nourse/Cullinan, Rice, Lindsay, Procter, P Pollock, Tayfield, Donald.

Game 15: Sri Lanka vs India, Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka

Even though humbled down under, the Indian will be hoping to put that way behind them with a morale boosting win in Sri Lanka. But that is easier said than done given the with Vaas & Murali leading the bowling attack in home conditons & their fairly classy batting line-up against a strong spin diet that the Indians are likely to attack with, the Sri Lankan's will not be any pushovers at home. A potential upset on the cards.

Sri Lanka (probable): Jayasuriya, Atapattu, Dias/Gurusinha, A De Silva, Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Ranatunga, Vaas, S De Silva, Muralitharan, Malinga.

India (probable): Gavaskar, Merchant/Mankad/Sidhu, Dravid, Tendulkar, Hazare, Mankad/Umrigar, Kapil Dev, Kirmani, Kumble, Bedi, Nissar/Amar Singh/Srinath.

Game 16: New Zealand vs West Indies, Jade Stadium, Christchurch, New Zealand

The idea of the West Indies coming to town was not just what the Kiwis would have wanted to hear given their very average start to the competition. The Kiwis will be hoping a mixture of Hadlee magic & home advantage will count for something in a test match they desperately need to get something out of if they have any hopes of getting to the semi-final stage of the All-time series.

New Zealand (probable): Turner, Sutcliffe, Jones, Crowe, Donnelly/Fleming, Reid, Cairns, Hadlee, Smith, Bond, Cowie/Taylor.

West Indies: Hunte, Greenidge, Lara, Headley, Richards, Sobers, Dujon, Marshall, Holding, Garner, Ambrose.

Australia are after 3 solid test match wins likely to be unchanged....

Australia: Simpson, Hayden, Bradman, Chappell, Waugh, Miller, Gilchrist, Lindwall, Warne, Lillee, McGrath.
So Bradman continues to dissapoint his fans with his stats now being worse than his effort during the Bodyline series....he's now only averaging 53 from 4 tests, which is almost half his career average and he only has 1 small century from 7 Innings (whereas his career record is a century every 2.7 innings...normally doubles).....you might have to adjust your computer simulator, or.....you might as well play Ponting who's career average is 60 ;)

Oh yeah, Aussies were robbed as only 80 overs a day meant they couldn't take the last 5 wkts in time (or maybe it rained?????)

Ha, you are harsh yo. But Australia are winning so it would be harsh to drop anyone especiallt Bradman even with the superb depth to call from, at least he is been getting starts but the tournament has a long way to go so he has to score big sometime i guess.

With the over-rates, well i dunno i guess with all those quicks on show, slow overates from both sides probably caused the loss of overs.

But Australia didn't win and now WI are heading the table

Edit: Oh, I just realised why WI are leading as Sobers is in Bradmanesque form with 3 centuries and an average of 101.50 for the series....or it could be because of the Marshall, Holding, Garner, Ambrose pace attack ;)

Matty Haydens gun form in this series should put to bed all those silly arguments about him not being able to handle world class bowlers ;)
