Why? Fulton at #4 and Styris at #5. That's our strongest middle order, and I'd like to see you try and argue that.Peter Fulton

Hopkins dire OD batsman? Always thought he was a gun, or am I mixing up formats again...In FC cricket that was my suggestion, but I think he's a better bowler than Franklin and offers more variety. Slower though, and not quite as effective with late hitting. McCullum is similar to Vettori, but a much better fielder and more destructive batsman. Doesn't take a lot of wickets but usually doesn't give up too many runs.
Mason has already played a Test.
How can you like Hopkins as an ODI batsman? Been dire in the past and isn't much better now. Gunning it in the longer format though.
Ryder averages 48.71 for New Zealand A, with two centuries and one fifty from 7 innings.

Yup, certainly are.Hopkins dire OD batsman? Always thought he was a gun, or am I mixing up formats again...
Ryder's average annoys me. Proving he's a gun but too much of a **** to get selected.
With regards to McCullum, if we played the three spinners what effect do you think we would have? Could be similar to the dibbly dobbly 92 WC days.
Well you've got me converted. Its not as though many of our seamers can claim to be better.Yup, certainly are.
Look how good we were in 92. One of our best ODI teams.
The argument I think would be that currently at number 3 Taylor has 9 under 15 scores from 12 innings including 4 ducks.
Fulton meanwhile has 1 under 15 from 6 innings.
Ya-huh. Fulton scores centuries at #4, Taylor scores them at #3. Natural positions for both, I wouldn't mess with them ITBT.Not saying we should put Fulton there though, as he averages 50 at 4.

Styris has only played once at 3, hit 48 against Zimbabwe years ago.
Forgot Fleming isn't coming back. Got myself all over excited with the thoughts of him returning after ditching Braces.
Seriously tempted to argue TBH
Fulton
Fleming
Styris
Would be my dream middle order. But it won't happen. I'm not gonna bother to argue.
Still worried about Taylors hot/cold form TBH, but I spose the reliability of Fulton and Styris can cover him for till he settles down a bit more on the international stage.Ya-huh. Fulton scores centuries at #4, Taylor scores them at #3. Natural positions for both, I wouldn't mess with them ITBT.

I agree.Vincent
Papps
Taylor
Fulton
Styris
Their best positions.
Indeed. You have to place a bit of faith in Taylor, IMO, as he has shown what he can do and will continue to grow his game.Still worried about Taylors hot/cold form TBH, but I spose the reliability of Fulton and Styris can cover him for till he settles down a bit more on the international stage.
Has the chance to claim the #3 spot for Test cricket, but is better off at #5 in ODIs.Styris has only played once at 3, hit 48 against Zimbabwe years ago.
I certainly hope so. As much as his inconsistency annoys me it would be great if he become a consistent opposition destroyer.Indeed. You have to place a bit of faith in Taylor, IMO, as he has shown what he can do and will continue to grow his game.
I think Fulton has that role until Fleming leaves TBHHas the chance to claim the #3 spot for Test cricket, but is better off at #5 in ODIs.
Vincent opening 33.64I agree.
It's a different game these days. Different pitches, different requirements, different tactics. Bangladesh have often gone into games with three very respectable spinners and they've simply not been effective due to the roles they have to play with the lack of pace options, particularly in the PowerPlays which make it really hard for spinners.Yup, certainly are.
