It's poor leadership really. You're a team working for a common goal, pull your heads in and learn how to get along. Stop acting like High School kids. One reason I think Ponting is such a fine captain is because he draws differing personalities close to each other and is able to keep the 'team' mood very much alive. He is a great inspirer of his troops. Warne's and Ponting's differences were heavily publicised in the '05 Ashes. Since then Ponting has improved as a leader and was able to bind his team together in a tough time.

The thing is, maybe blokes like Sachin and Sourav expected Rahul to stick up for them, given how Rahul is always nice and how friendly he is with those guys (or at least was, at that time) and I suppose when he didn't, they may have mistaken him and things led to one another since then.

Well, if it really was Karma, it should be Chappell who should be in all kinds of trouble, I would say.

And really, I felt at that time that the Chappell controversy was 80% his fault and 20% the guys whom he had a problem with. I never really thought Dravid would have been to blame either way, but if all that is happening to him now is a result of what happened under Chappell (and of course, all this is assumption), the senior players not supporting him should basically be ashamed of themselves.
What trouble ? It is not like Dravid is playing very well and still being left out of the team. I applaud Dhoni for making a tough decision. Ganguly went through worse and I didn't see any sympathy for him then. When Ganguly came back to the team no one including Dravid and Tendulkar were willing to shake hands with him. It was well reported in the media.

If Ganguly is not supporting Dravid then there is a reason for it, Dravid wasn't too pleased with Ganguly's comeback in the team or even after he came back he wasn't very happy with him giving advice to youngsters. In one particular match when Ganguly was giving advice to SreeSanth, he asked Ganguly to stop it "Bas Bahut Gaya Dadi, Zyada Nahin". I dont know about why Tendulkar would be against him though.

IMO Dravid should take a cue from Ganguly and try to focus on his batting.

As for Chappell , He is already gone as coach so I dont think anything can be done now about him. He deserved what he got and I really have no respect whatsoever for him as a coach or as a person and not even as a cricketer.

Lol, both Ganguly and Sachin got far more chances than Dravid did before being dropped or "rested" when in bad form.

and about what happened with Ganguly, I am still not sure who is to blame and who shouldn't be. If indeed those two didn't shake hands with him, then they are at fault. But from what I saw during the Pakistan tour, Sachin become closer than ever to Sourav and Dravid was openly talking to Sourav about who would open the batting. If Dravid was so bitter at Sourav, he could have very well let him open against the tough attack where I think the chances of Sourav failing would have been higher. Again, while they may have been reticient at the beginning (and I m not saying that was ok, it wasn't) but I think things did get better as we went along.

And reg. Sourav advicing Sree, even Dhoni asked Dinesh Karthik to walk back when he ran in with some advice to Sree in the T20 WC when he was keeping. For a lot in India (and to the whole of Indian media) it is a reason to praise Dhoni and it apparently shows how he is a STRONG leader who is in control of his team. Personally, I think it is stupid and I think there should be a better way for a captain to tell him team mate to not advice his bowler too much but I m just telling you that it is not always as bad as you may think when that kind of thing happens.

We all know how chummy Tendulkar and Ganguly are - it's been well publicized how they stick up for each other and Tendulkar didn't like what happened to Ganguly under Chappell.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that both of them conspire against someone like Dravid purely because they want to bring him down as they see him identified with Chappell.

Should Sachin, Sourav and co. play the T20 match today? Have the teams been announced?

Or do they send in the WC team?

Hogg and Johnson are not playing in today's game and Clark and Hilfenhaus make it into the XI.
Good to see Hilfy finally get a game!

Nice start, very interested in the result here, obviously after the championship semi-finals. Gilchrist is always awesome, never boring in this format but was never going to last playing like that. Gun yorker from RP as well especially after 3 fours in a row.
