2) What is the problem with Uthappa's technique? Looks gun to me, one of the only batsman to combat Hogg's spin well and was solid against all the pacemen. 6 is doubtful, 7 would be plain wasteful IMO.
It's generally thought that he falls away to the off side and can hence be an lbw candidate. I've only noticed him doing it a couple of times but it definitely does happen at times. Every batsman has a weakness though and I'm sure he's working on it. I agree with you that his technique looks very good, that aside. Good prospect.

1) Clark - left out in favour of one of the best One Day International bowlers in the last five years, Nathan Bracken. Unless of course you missed out on the second half of the series, which would make it my bad.

3) If you're three best bowlers happen to bowl with their left-arm, pick 'em. Not saying it was the casee for this series, but just in general. Australia played Bracken, Johnson, Hogg and Clarke. Hardly did them any bad.
lol, I should have known u wud spring to Bracken's defence. Tbh, I rate him just as highly as u do as an ODI bowler. But juz saying that POTENTIALLY that trio hold more promise as wicket takers... That's all. I have always rated Bracken, tbh. And I think his bowling in that crazy game at Jo'burg is one of the finest ever bowling performances seen in ODI cricket.

Hope you are happy now? ;) :p

And regarding Uthappa, u see he plants his front foot across EVERY ball, irrespective of length and line and against good new ball bowlers, he will always have trouble. Also, outside the off stump, he often goes fishing. Look at his dismissals in the WC. It was not for nothing that Dean Jones bet that he would struggle at the Queen's Park Oval. As I said, he seems to have found exactly the right role for himself in the Indian side as a #6 or #7, as a finisher and I hope we keep him there instead of spoiling his confidence by moving him up and down just like we did with Dinesh Karthik.

And about them being the 3 best bowlers, the problem is they are not so far ahead of the right armers to be labelled easily as THE better bowlers. Which is why, since RPS and Sree seem roughly equal, it is better to go for the variation that Sree offers...

Well that was a disgrace with what happened to Symonds, maybe my closed stadium idea wasn't that farfetched, alas it won't happen so I hope a hefty fine and loss of ODI points to the BCCI would happen, but I'm not holding out given the ICC is spineless. The BCCI showed their true colours to accuse somebody of lying and for the fans to defend their chants as religious, what a cop-out, they knew dam well what they were chanting and what it meant. BTW I would call the fine and loss of points for all countries not just India.

can u provide some links where the BCCI have denied it? Last I heard, guys were evicted. And also, where did this "fans saying they were religious chants" come out from? links for that too?

Hey HB

I did notice yesterday what you were saying about Dravid. He did seem forlorn and when Zaheer and Harbhajan were returning, everyone was enthusiastically rushing to embrace them warmly. Dravid was at the end unsurely trying to catch Zaheer's attention. Finally when Zaheer looked at him he gave a wry smile and they shook hands very briefly. I was stunned honestly.

I really wonder whats happening.
Agree i also saw the same and was very much surprised with the face DARVID was having when he shook hands with zaheer

If Haydos not fit then Hogg plays

In Baroda they said the crowd was saying "Ganpathi Bappa Maurya" which was misunderstood. That must be what they are refering to.

As requested.

Where I got my information from.
I will tell you this, mate. There are a couple of rather incharitable articles about Australia and racism in the Indian press as well. And the Indian press have all said that there has not been as much racist taunts as is being made out and that whatever the Baroda authorities have said is, in fact, true. The only confirmed thing is that some people were actually evicted from the Wankhede for racist taunts yesterday. Other than that, it is all a lot of "you said, he said" at the moment. My request to both sides would be to NOT believe what the respective countries' newspapers have to say on the matter, not a lot of it is likely to be true, either way.

PS: That article's tone and everything suggests that it was written very emotionally and perhaps, with a bit of bias. It sounded so bitter that I thought it was authored by Scallywag or sideshowtim there.

I know. It doesn't look good, does it? I just get the feeling, for whatever reason, that the old coterie of Sourav, Yuvraj, Zaheer, Harbhajan (perhaps) have reunited now and have taken Sachin in along with them as well. And maybe Dhoni. It just seems to me that not a lot of guys have time for Dravid in this team. I am not sure who was in the wrong here. Maybe it was some mistake on the part of Dravid, or maybe it is just a bit of attitude on the part of the others, maybe a bit of payback for being Chappell's yes man to Dravid. But things are not looking good for him.

Such a shame that he has to be in bad form at such a time too. Not many are gonna support him now, even from the public, when his adversaries (as it seems to me) within the side are all doing so well now. I fear the worst for Dravid. :(
Karma. I would say. This is what you get for backing Greg Chappel. Dravid had an opportunity to speak up against Chappell, he didn't and look where he is now. Chappel did more harm to Indian Cricket than anyone in last 60 years, it was easy to get out of Match Fixing debacle, but this will haunt India for some time, at least till the time Dravid, Ganguly, tendulkar etc retire, and trust me it is going to come out in open.

I feel sorry for Dravid, he was a mere pawn in Chappel's sinister ways. Chappel ways have finally cost India its best player, best team man and above all one of the nicest guys in world cricket.

Was reading something on Cricinfo and stumbled across this report from May 2007. Seems to make a lot more sense now.

India have 0% chance of winning, or even drawing the test series against Australia at home if Dravid's frame of mind is screwed.

So sad :(
