It could be worse. Yuvraj not getting picked for the test team after those 6 sixes.Haha I am willing to bet that Dravid is dropped from the Test side due to his ODI form. Would be a new low for Indian cricket tbh.
Look fair enough, I CBF getting into a long winded debate about it. As for the bias bit, you are probably correct as Symonds is from the Gold Coast, and was the article written by the paper and they do have a habit of that, defending the locals a bit. As for the racism bit, I would support the notion of a fine and maybe a warning, that if it happens again then they get suspended from holding a Test or ODI. Whatever happen, I'm sure you'll agree that it was pretty disgusting and not a good day for out great sport.I will tell you this, mate. There are a couple of rather incharitable articles about Australia and racism in the Indian press as well. And the Indian press have all said that there has not been as much racist taunts as is being made out and that whatever the Baroda authorities have said is, in fact, true. The only confirmed thing is that some people were actually evicted from the Wankhede for racist taunts yesterday. Other than that, it is all a lot of "you said, he said" at the moment. My request to both sides would be to NOT believe what the respective countries' newspapers have to say on the matter, not a lot of it is likely to be true, either way.
PS: That article's tone and everything suggests that it was written very emotionally and perhaps, with a bit of bias. It sounded so bitter that I thought it was authored by Scallywag or sideshowtim there.
Actually it was bad, I went back and watched the highlights again to see Zaheer and Dravid handhsake, Dravid is standing behind, Zaheer looks happy and exchanges words with almost every one but with Dravid, first He(Zaheer) doesn't notice him (probably coz Dracid is standing back) when then Dravid approaches him, he very casually shakes hand and then moves ahead. Seems Pretty obvious to me that things are not well.Honestly, it was very stupid of Dravid to dump captaincy in the first place. But, on the other hand, I think too much is being made of Dravid's face/reaction after the win. He might just be a little sleepy or tired or w/e (God knows). Let's not jump to conclusions.
Plus doesn't he always have that face on. Even after a test win, he isn't very vocal or doesn't really express himself, and this was a dead rubber.
I didn't see his face after the win, but was it that bad?
How much you wanna bet ?Haha I am willing to bet that Dravid is dropped from the Test side due to his ODI form. Would be a new low for Indian cricket tbh.
What the? That's it ! I thought it would be something much worse . Bro that was nothing, we just got to see him for like 2 seconds and he just looked his normal self tbh. Really it's nothing imo. Dravid is like that, you barely ever see him smile or anything. Plus he wasn't playing this game, so he must've been a bit more relaxed and care free.Actually it was bad, I went back and watched the highlights again to see Zaheer and Dravid handhsake, Dravid is standing behind, Zaheer looks happy and exchanges words with almost every one but with Dravid, first He(Zaheer) doesn't notice him (probably coz Dracid is standing back) when then Dravid approaches him, he very casually shakes hand and then moves ahead. Anyways - I am hoping that I am wrong with my assessment.
Have to agree with Sanz that something looks wrong there. Dravid is a stoic character but he celebrates and certainly smiles when India do well. Either Dravid and Zaheer have issues or we've got a bigger rift on our hands ... let's hope it's the former. What the? That's it ! I thought it would be something much worse . I don't know I could be wrong, but to me everything seems fine.
Yeah seriously, I just watched the video a couple more times, I don't see anything wrong.Reading too much into it. Seriously.
I agree that there should be 0% tolerance for racism or any other issue that affects the sportsmen emotionally. All I am saying is that a lot of these are just allegations and counter allegations at this point, no one can really be sure what is the truth. The best we can do is wait and watch, tbh. If there were racist chants, then others should follow the Mumbai example and get people out.Look fair enough, I CBF getting into a long winded debate about it. (Wow this has to be the most calm I've ever been )
Symonds continuing to show he is a tool. No surprise.Yeah seriously, I just watched the video a couple more times, I don't see anything wrong.

Karma. I would say. This is what you get for backing Greg Chappel. Dravid had an opportunity to speak up against Chappell, he didn't and look where he is now. Chappel did more harm to Indian Cricket than anyone in last 60 years, it was easy to get out of Match Fixing debacle, but this will haunt India for some time, at least till the time Dravid, Ganguly, tendulkar etc retire, and trust me it is going to come out in open.
I feel sorry for Dravid, he was a mere pawn in Chappel's sinister ways. Chappel ways have finally cost India its best player, best team man and above all one of the nicest guys in world cricket.
Well we know Zaheer and Dravid don't get along because Dravid was the one that dropped Zaheer a while back (before he went to England and got better). So there is bad blood, and there has been a history of Zaheer needling Dravid. In the third Test, Dravid said that he didn't enforce the follow on because the fast bowlers are tired, and Zaheer specifically went on TV to deny that he was tired at all. Things like that can really damage a captain's credibility and Zaheer comes off as pretty poor in that regard.Actually it was bad, I went back and watched the highlights again to see Zaheer and Dravid handhsake, Dravid is standing behind, Zaheer looks happy and exchanges words with almost every one but with Dravid, first He(Zaheer) doesn't notice him (probably coz Dracid is standing back) when then Dravid approaches him, he very casually shakes hand and then moves ahead. And yes, Dravid is still identified with the Chappell era while Tendulkar and Ganguly hated Chappell and we know that most of the team (Yuvraj, Zaheer, etc) wanted Tendulkar to be the captain instead of Dravid. That type of stuff eats away at you as a captain.
But it's just another day in the Indian dressing room. It wasn't much better with Gavaskar and Kapil Dev in the eighties.
