they have been owned, but I think even the IPL will get owned pretty soon, just because so much of it is just shouting out "impractical"...
I agree, IMO IPL's sole aim is to kill ICL and in which they have succeeded so far. As of now ICL is doomed and IPL will shut its doors as soon as it finds out that ICL is doomed.

What is sad is there are so many young cricketers who risked their future and BCCI continued their bull headed approach.

Sharad Pawar is one of the smartest operators in Indian politics. Jagmohan Dalmiya has already learnt that and now Subhash Chandra and Kapil are slowly realising that.

You can fight against brains. You can even fight against money. Once in a while you can also fight power. But Pawar is a deadly combination of all these AND he is as cool as a cucumber. They never had a chance. And with nothing except money to offer to the players they started with a handicap.
This is how even Packer could have been tackled. Compete with him in the same market place with an even better product.

Sure Pawar will make a great ICC chief.

At one time a majority of Indians felt he would make a great Prime Minister.
I told you ......

Such a shame Bob Parrish couldn't have had the acumen of Sharad Pawar.

Even without it he so nearly beat Packer; he'd not have stood a chance against our Sharad.

The teams for ICL have been finalised. What's your opinion on them? They look quite strong, although because of the international players. What we'd prefer is the best of India with the best of internationals. This will turn out to be an entertaining series, but then, we don't expect any of them to make the Indian team. Some of the coaches, and all of the captains, are internationals.

Hayward left his decision late. Was named in the Warriors team to play the Titans on Tuesday and come Wednesday his flying off to India.

Backing the Mumbai Champs. :)

Chandigarh Lions look tosh (aside from Andrew Hall), Imran Farhat, Hamish Marshall and Daryl Tuffey are poor overseas signings whilst Chris Cairns hasn't played competitive cricket for sometime.

Yea, Mumbai looks to be the strongest team on paper. Not a coincidence I think, Mumbai is the biggest market and it makes sense the biggest name went to them. But it should be competitive. The Lions do have the worst overseas signings but some good domestic names, so it should be interesting.

Anyone know if I can buy this in the US?

Why has Taufeeq Umar thrown away his international career? :(
Toffee Kumar:ph34r:

No but seriously he wasnt that good. We aren't exactly brimming with quality openers at the moment but theres a few openers that are better then him. Besides he'll play for Pakistan if the PCB want him to.

Hes our best Test opener though. Sure he has been tried and wasn't all that great, but everyone else has been tried and failed pretty miserably so he almost deserves a spot by default.

I think that more players should consider join the Indian Cricket League, Cricketers are poorly paid conpared to other sportsman so if this gives players a chance to earn a bit of money for a few weeks cricket then i think more should join

Now Lara may also opt out of ICL and head for IPL.

Not in India! They're paid heavily here, especially the Indian frontline players. For some reason, however, every official entity treats this event as something very evil or anti-establishment.

Interesting start so far to say the least. So many Kiwi players playing, seems kind of odd. though I suppose they should finally get some money since they don't exactly get paid well here...
