***Official*** Australia in India

I am also suprised that why Aussies are not using Symonds with the ball, ok his bowling was dire in T20 cricket but he is a very good Odi bowler.
I think there might be a drop in his bowling standard after his bicep injury that he suffered before the World cup this year.
Anyways i think Australia have still bowled well today and when Bracken would come into the team the bowling should only get better, Hopes has done a very decent job as the 5th bowler and he is handy with bat at 7 so i think he should be kept in the XI.

Its also probably not a bad idea to keep Hopes in the team to give him a chance to develop into a decent member of the team. Its looking increasingly likely that Watson won't be a long term allrounder - I think he'll be an important part of the team, but only as a specialist (top-order) batsman. If that's the case, we'll need an allrounder who can bat at 7 in ODIs, and Hopes is probably the best candidate at the moment. It might be time to stop regarding his presence in the team as a temporary thing and start treating him like a valuable resource who'll need to be assisted to develop, which would include not dropping him when he's actually performing well.

It would be interesting to see Hopes come in and bowl in a pressure situation rather than after the fall of early wickets. If he can do a good job there, it will help him press for long-term inclusion in the team.

Would someone please get Gambhir out of the squad permanantly? What a ridiculous player. He can't freaking play high quality bowling - never could, never will.

Happy with kartik coming into the squad as i have seen him perform quite well of late
I have, he bowls still in the classical left arm fashion and above all else has been very economical. Averaging 20 in Pro40 (40 over one day county cricket), he has taken his fair share of wickets too with his subtle variations (60mph quicker ball; arm ball) and great accuracy.

Will someone please remind Harbhjan, he's a bowler and he's also supposed to take some wickets as well. This is a 5th ODI in a row that Harbhjan hasn't taken a wicket. I was never a fan of him coming back into the ODI team once again.
Great knock by Yuvraj, shame nobody else wanted to lend him a hand.

Gambhir was the second highest run getter in T20 world championship, and its obvious that the Indian team management are giving him chances on the basis of his T20 performances which is so wrong.
Its pretty clear now that both Uthappa and Gambhir have big technical flaws is their batting, they both are openers and the way they keep on getting nailed on their front-foot while playing around the line of the ball is seriously going to hamper their progress at this level.
I would like to see Ganguly back and i would also prefer it if Dhoni promotes himself in the batting order and leads from the front.

I haven't really seen a lot wrong with Uthappa's technique, TBH. Gambhir just looks pretty dire in general against swing bowling (which makes his position as an opener quite strange, given he plays spin quite well from what I've seen) with his lack of footwork and tendancy to fall over - but I haven't seen any consistent problems with Uthappa's technique at all. I think he's a good prospect TBH.

Uthappa gets onto to his front foot far too early too often... is always suspect for lbw decision as he shuffles too far in front of his stumps. The way he went out against Australia in Cochin is what i'd be worried about.
But he does look a better prospect than Gambhir thou.

Agree that Uthappa comes across a lot when playing a fast bowler against a bowler bowling from around the wicket. But I feel, Gambhir is better than Uthappa

I wonder whether Broad will cite his action with the doosra - the coverage did a super slow-mo and the commentators were focussing on the difference in the motion of the hands, but it really highlighted how much extra elbow flex there is in his doosra.

Geez Johnson bowled well yesterday. He really is something. His figures don't look that flash thanks to Bhaji going nuts in his final over, but he really bowled superbly...Got us off to a great start and got Yuvraj when he was looking really ominous at the end...I'm glad we have guys like him to back our bowling up. And to think, guys like Bracken and Tait are sitting on the sidelines...we're well insured for bowling depth in the future.

Hopes bowled very well yesterday, however he won't get too much credit for it. He choked the Indian batsmen at a time where they really could've gone on with it and decreased the RRR...It was down to 7 at one point, but he ensured it got up to 9/10 again. I thought Ponting used him very well too by the way. Persisted with him even after the 5th bowler's 10 overs were gone, so that'll definitely give Hopes some confidence too.

If India even has to compete with Australia then they need to employ some good plans in the upcoming games, atm they hardly have a settled team-combination and they pretty much seem to going through the motions.
Indian team needs to assign every individual with a certain role in the team so that the guy knows what exactly is expected of him.
