This isn't Mehrab jnr.....I think Jungle Jumbo made a mistake..........this is Mehrab snr

Mehrab jnr is now in Sri Lanka with Bangladesh A team.
Gah, schoolboy error. I even read it as 'Opee' as well.

It came out of the blue then. He hasn't been playing too much of late.

Fatullah: Barisal (2pts, 3-2) beat Chittagong (0pts, 2-3) by 4 wickets
Chittagong 249 (49.4)

Ehsanul Haque 117* (112b, 10x4, 2x6), Rezaul Karim 52, Sajjadul Haque 38; Ariful Haque 5-38, Raisul Islam 3-37
Barisal 252-6 (47.5)
Nasiruddin Faruque 65, Raqibul Hasan 56, Iftekhar Nayem 38, Raisul Islam 29; Tareq Aziz 2-45, Mohammad Younus 2-48

Chittagong slipped to 23-5 against Ariful Haque, before Ehsanul shared two stands of 105 with Rezaul Karim and Sajjadul Haque.

Dhanmondi: Dhaka (2pts, 4-1) beat Rajshahi (0pts, 3-2) by 1 wicket
Rajshahi 299-9 (50)
Rafiqul Islam 59, Naeem Islam 67, Anisur Rahman 25, Khaled Mashud 37, Kamrul Hasan 48; Mohammad Sukran 3-54, Rashedul Islam 2-54
Dhaka 300-9 (50)
Nazmul Hossain 144 (89b, 11x4, 7x6), Rashedul Islam 35*; Mushfiqur Rahman 3-68, Delwar Hossain 3-46, Saqlain Sajib 2-55

The title decider to end all title deciders. After Rajshahi racked up 299, Dhaka's dreams of a double seemed dead and buried when Mushfiqur Rahman and Delwar Hossain ripped through the top order to leave them 112-7 in the 24th over. Cue Nazmul Hossain Milon and quite possibly the most awesome one-day innings ever played in the country. Struggling with back cramps for much of his two hour knock, Milon cruised his way to a run-a-ball half-century before gradually shifting through the gears, taking just 26 balls over his next fifty runs. He cleared the ropes on seven occasions; three times onto the indoor basketball stadium next to the ground; once actually clearing the roof itself. Rashedul Islam provided able support and together the pair put on 164 for the eighth wicket in under 24 overs. Milon finally fell with 14 still required and Dippajjal Day followed in the following over for a duck. Requiring seven off the final over, it took a boundary from Rashedul off the last delivery to seal the double. Earlier, Naeem Islam made his third fifty of the tournament, adding 117 for the third wicket with Rafiqul Islam.

BKSP No.2 Ground: Sylhet (2pts, 3-2) beat Khulna (0pts, 0-5) by 18 runs
Sylhet 312-8 (50)
Golam Rahman 109 (123b, 8x4, 4x6), Golam Mabud 27, Sadiqur Rahman 80; Fariduddin 3-52, Nahidul Haque 3-73
Khulna 294 (50)
Monirul Islam 87, Imrul Kayash 93, Asadullah Khan 49; Alok Kapali 3-38, Nabil Samad 2-56, Sadiqur Rahman 4-70

Final Standings:
Code:

Haha. He's now won two league titles with the bat single-handedly. Not bad for a first-change seamer who used to have a severe no-ball problem.

How many more Nazmul are there? Nine? :p

Oh yes. We're back. From the director that previously brought you such last year's smash blockbuster Milon's Thunder, the epics Ashraful and A Boy Named Raqibul and the acclaimed documentary Steve Tikolo does the DPL, George Roberts presents **Official Bangladesh Domestic Season 2007/08** (hint, can a mod change the title please, thanks).

One small problem: cricBD, the site I have mainly used for updates for the past two seasons, appears to have closed, so everything will now have to come from the Dhaka press.

As of yet, nothing has been announced about the upcoming domestic calendar, but I would think it will be similar to last season.

Anyway, the catalyst for the un-hibernation of this thread is the announcement of Bangladesh's academy squad for the upcoming tour of Australia, starting 23 August, consisting of five one-day fixtures, one three-day game and one four-day game.

Squad Mehrab Hossain jnr (c), Nasiruddin Faruque (vc), Saghir Hossain (wk), Naeem Islam, Dhiman Ghosh, Dollar Mahmud, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Jahurul Islam, Talha Jubair, Nazmul Hossain, Raqibul Hasan, Mosharraf Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Imrul Kayes.

Raqibul is a pretty good talent by all acounts, notching up the first triple century by a Bangladeshi batsman in the last domestic season.

and thus undeniably > Uttam Sarkar.

I have a passing knowledge of most of those. Except Nasiruddin, Raquibul, Mosharraf and Imrul Kayes.
Nasiruddin is a promising top order batsman, Raqibul Hasan is the young lad that smashed Bangladesh's first triple hundred last season, Mosharraf Hossain is a steady left-arm spinner and Imrul Kayes is an opener who had a lot of success in the DPL last year, then made runs in the following NCL games.

Most unexpected this, but I've found the calendar for the whole domestic season on the BCB website. Whether it can be trusted or not is another matter, but here it is:

1 October - 24 October: Corporate Cricket League (CCL)

29 October - 3 December: National Cricket League (NCL); first phase, six rounds

7 December - 27 January: Dhaka Premier League (DPL)

31 January - 26 February: National Cricket League (NCL); second phase, four rounds

20 March - 28 March: Dhaka Premier League Twenty20

8 April - 21 April: National Cricket League One-Day

There is also a four-day club competition called the Shadhinata Cup, that takes place in the gaps towards the end of the calendar. I'm not sure if this concerns the major players though.

.
That was the biggest problem i had last season for the Sri Lanka domestic thread. Cricinfo ok, but really updates daily for Lanka domestic matches. The was no SLC website updating matches and the Colombo newspaper were pretty useless in giving detail about matches. Tough work for correspondents around these parts.

Bangladesh Academy in Australia

Wicket-keeper Dhiman Ghosh was unable to fly out to Australia with the rest of the party because of passport difficulties. Apparently his papers are still in Delhi, where he was to receive a visa (presumably South African) since he was named in the Twenty20 World Cup probables. He is likely to fly to Australia 'in a short time'.

Enamul Haque jnr also added to the squad for the longer form of the game.

Some worryingly low totals here. You can only hope it's the Mirpur wicket, bearing in mind no-one could score runs there last year.
