Yeah i noticed that, but don't Bangladesh have a fair bit of domestic cricket outside List A and First Class stuff.

Other even more recent players have also almost vanished overnight - can't recall seeing Anwar Hossain Monir around in the last season at all. Anyone know what happened to him?

It was just a one-innings match? Excellent result though, I hope we get some stronger opposition in the next game. This could be a big season for Dhiman Ghosh - more OD runs and he could have a shot at a place in the national side, after last year's NCL OD performances.

Ah, sorry, thought it was a one innings match the way it was written above. Almost 300 ahead there - may as well have 20-30 mins of slogging in the morning, then get Enamul to work.

Strong showing from the spinners there. Enamul Haque really needs to impress this season and make a Test spot his own again. He, more than anyone, suffered at Bangladesh's year-long absence from Test cricket.

New Age : NCL to kick-start season not CCL
First-class tourney begins October 1

Azad Majumder

The Bangladesh Cricket Board is confident of kicking off the new domestic season on October 1 with the National Cricket League, the lone first-class competition of the country, officials said on Thursday.

‘We are confident of it. All the relevant people have started their work. We had some problems with the grounds, but now it has been taken care of,’ said Salim Bhuiyan, the chairman of BCB’s tournament committee.

In the recent time Corporate Cricket League was the season curtain raiser, but the new Board officials have deviated from the idea reportedly to help the national cricketers to get better prepared for the New Zealand tour in December-January.

‘We believe the players will be benefited in the New Zealand tour should they play the National League before leaving home. It will also help the selectors to find the right combination,’ said Bhuiyan.

He however did not rule out the chance of abandoning the Corporate Cricket League completely, although reports suggested that very few teams showed their interest to play in the competition.

‘This season we have a plan to host at least seven tournaments including the Corporate Cricket League and tournament for the women. We pushed the CCL back for a while and concentrate on the National League instead,’ said Bhuiyan.

The BCB official promised to make the National League as clourful as possible and said the Board will hardly change any decision taken by the previous committee to give the competition a boost.

Shortly before they were asked to resign by the government, the previous committee had decided to raise the prize money for the champions from Tk 2 lakh to 10 lakh. They also had decided to award prize money to the second, third and fourth team in a similar ratio. The match fee and daily allowances of the players were also increased to a significant amount so that they don’t lose interest in the competition.

‘We have decided to follow almost every decision of the previous committee. The only one we did not was awarding prize money to the fourth team, because it will reduce the competitiveness,’ Bhuiyan said.

The BCB official said the first few matches of the National League will be held in Khulna, Bogra as the grounds there are all but ready. ‘By the time the League returns to Dhaka, the grounds here will also be ready for the matches. So we have no problem to start the league as per the plan,’ he said.

Enamul Haque putting in some good performances, as is Dhiman Ghosh. Nice to see him batting with consistency.

Is this the Northern Territory first team? If so, will that just be decent amateurs? Dhiman again performing well, he could have a big, big domestic season.

Dhiman Gosh is having a fantastic tour, if he continues his good form during the domestic season he'll be in serious consideration for a national berth IMO.

I would like to know how good this opposition is though. Jahurul Islam went to Pakistan with the Academy at the same time last year and made a lot of runs against a much stronger side. Look how far he's come in the last 12 months...

Northern Territory are pretty weak, but the other Institutes and Academies are fairly decent, containing some Pura Cup players I think. Runs are runs though, especially when made on foreign soil and conditions that most Bangladeshi batsmen would struggle with.
