Lol @ the BCB using the forenames of the Australians.

For clarity's sake...

Bangladesh Academy Tour of Australia

Marrara CG, Pitch No.2: Bangladesh Academy beat Western Australia Academy by 10 runs
Bangladesh Academy 219-5 (40)
Mehrab Hossain jnr 34 (23), Imrul Kayes 31 (44), Raqibul Hasan 59 (59), Nasiruddin Faruque 47 (97)
Western Australia Academy 209-8 (40)

Twenty20 Practice Match

Mirpur: Green beat Red by 6 wickets
Red 189-6 (20)
Tamim Iqbal 42, Alok Kapali 57, Saqibul Hasan 49, Mushfiqur Rahim 24; Abdur Razzak 4-30
Green 191-4 (18.2)
Nazimuddin 74, Junaid Siddique 41, Mashrafe Mortaza 45; Mohammad Ashraful 2-27

At last, the batsmen work out the aim of the game. Now for some proper practice against Pakistan, Kenya and Uganda. We should smash two of those teams, Pakistan will be a good indicator of just where we stand. Nazimuddin and Alok definitely deserve chances up at the top for those practice matches.

Something like...

1 Tamim Iqbal 2 Alok Kapali 3 Nazimuddin 4 Mohammad Ashraful 5 Aftab Ahmed 6 Saqibul Hasan 7 Mashrafe Mortaza 8 Farhad Reza 9 Mushfiqur Rahim 10 Abdur Razzak 11 Syed Rasel

...could happen, but is unlikely to.

Mashrafe can hit big, but would you really have Mushfiqur Rahim all the way down at #9? Seems quite wasteful, but I suppose, given that they are trial games it is slightly understandable.

Wasteful perhaps, but it depends on how much batting we need. I suppose another seamer could play in place of one of the top order or Farhad. Probably a better side that actually.

I think that would have been wonderful (including a genuine pacer in place of Farhad). Unfortunately, BD selectors left the only other quality pacer we have in the country (besides Mashrafe and Rasel), Shahadat Hossain, out of the squad.

Shadhadat Hossain would really struggle in Twenty20 cricket IMO, bowls too many no balls and doesn't have the accuracy or variation.

I'd prefer Shahadat mixing up his length and line unintentionally though than have Ziaur or Sharif getting clattered into the stands ball after ball.

DPL relegation playoff from 2006-07 will take place on September 30, I think between Brothers Union and City Club. There was a sort of mini-tournament played for it last time around, but I can't recall any other matches being played at the end of last year's first stage.

Any Uttam news?
No, he's not really in the picture for any of the representative sides. The first chance of seeing him will probably be in the CCL, starting October 1 I think.
Yeah Uttam is currently pretty much out the picture. He was left out of the 20-member BD Academy squad that was selected this June, for the year 2007-2008. For opening slots, selectors preferred Jahurul Islam, Junaid Siddique, Imrul Kayes, and Gazi Salahuddin over him.

I don't think CCL will start from this October. National team players have requested BCB to bring NCL forward so that they get good amount of match practice in the longer version before going to New Zealand.

Unfortunately, I think Uttam will have hard time to find a spot in Dhaka team this year, until the national team players leave the country. Dhaka top order positions will probably go to Javed Omar, Mehrab Hossain Jr, Al Sahariar, and Ashraful, while academy players Marshal Ayub, Nadif Chowdhury, and Mahmudullah Riyad are better positioned to grab middle order positions.

Just looking through a some old scorecards for Bangladesh and noticed a young 18 yo making his Test Debut in Bangladesh first ever Test, Ranjan Das. Then he disappeared off the scence. Just wondering what happened to him, at 25 he most still be around the domestic scence somewhere.

He hasn't even played domestic cricket in Bangladesh for 3 or 4 years to my knowledge - his form just didn't ever really hold up to it.
