To be fair Richard if you hadn't seen that match he was hit in the feet twice and needed a runner when he was still below 50, his foot work stopped and he just ended up timing every shot beautifully, we never looked close to getting him out in that match. His fours were great too, 11 actually if I recall correctly. The sixes were slaughter but you can't go past his timing on that day. Carried his side to what should've been a great victory, yet wasn't.
I did see the thing, and there's no doubt it was an impressive innings, highly so, but I still didn't find any of the strokes attractive, that'd be almost impossible.

If he keeps his wicket and scores that many runs that quickly, in my opinion he's playing cricket as well as it can be played.

I'm not sure if I felt it was attractive or not, but I definitely felt a bit in awe of his ability on that day, it was an immense innings. I actually thought we had lost that match when the 4th wicket fell at around 60 runs (I believe) and as I watched Fulton have a bit of a go, I was sitting there and sighing. "Bless his little cotton socks", but then as McMillan and McCullum matched his efforts was what really made it such a great game.

I spose I could be a bit biased in viewing this as my favourite ODI match ever but such a high scoring match (where the bowling was not entirely bad) with such brilliant hard hitting. Its a style of its own, made me love the golf slog swing.

It's good cricket because of that, but doesn't mean that people find it attractive.

The fact that NZ chased the thing down made it one hell of a game, yeah, but what (to me, and I presume to a fair few others, especially Kiwis) made it good was the fact that an implausible chase was attained, rather than that the actual strokes themselves were things of beauty.

Hahaha, it's true. Last season I averaged under 20 with the bat but probably averaged 80 balls per innings. I never really look for runs- when they come, it's either really bad bowling, or rare edges through slips whilst defending.

I have been a fan of Trevor Gripper too but I would not copy him.

I know that's a joke, but I seriously did copy him. I even bowl a bit like him (but much more successfully, thank god! :p)

If you search my posts for Gripper, you'll see I even admitted to him being my favourite player a while back.

 . Knew you were a fan but didn't think you would copy him. BTW, I loved his batting style too.

Having seen Mark Waugh bat numerous times, I can't imagine a batsman more aesthetically pleasing than him, with the exception of Sachin Tendulkar.
