So Sussex, Lancashire, Kent and Gloucestershire it is for the Twenty20 semis. Bit of an unfamiliar Twenty20 lineup really.

It's got Durston 11 on the back :D Anyway, I can't make the meet-up because I just can't afford it. Oh the joys of being a student!

 ...even better. I was expecting Langer, Trescothick, Hildreth or Willoughby on the back of your shirt....but DURSTON!!!!. He's rubbish. (no offence)

Amazed by Kent's performance in the 20:20 this season, they've totally surpassed my expectations. Typical performance from them today though - getting off to a horrible start, getting on top through some inspired play, looking like they're cruising to victory before almost screwing it up at the end, only to make it through, just barely...

We'd have been absolutely screwed without Murali today. Warwickshire were probably the second strongest side left in the competition as well, maybe after Sussex.

Praying for Kent or Gloucestershire in the semis, they shouldn't pose too many problems. Need to get rid of Goodwin, Wright and Adams early if we should bump into Sussex.

Left-arm spinner and top T20 wicket-taker Nayan Doshi has left Surrey. Certainly young enough to make a success of it with another county - he's also played domestic cricket in India.

TBH it's hard to blame him when Surrey, posessing possibly the best spin attack in county cricket of Doshi - Schofield - Sailsbury, then signed Harbhajan Singh.

There'll be plenty of interest in him I'm sure, especially given how good his Twenty20 record is.

It doesn't really say much if Surrey apparantly have the best spin attack in the country. Doshi, Schofield and Salisbury are all pretty ordinary bowlers tbh.

Really? Bored so will investigate further...

Derbyshire: Ant Botha

Durham: Paul Wiseman, Gareth Breese

Essex: Danish Kaneria, James Middlebrook, Tim Phillips

Glamorgan: Robert Croft, Dean Cosker

Gloucestershire: Vikram Banerjee, Ian Fisher

Hampshire: Shane Warne, Shaun Udal

Kent: James Tredwell, Min Patel

Lancashire: Muttiah Muralitharan, Gary Keedy

Leicestershire: Claude Henderson, Mansoor Amjad

Middlesex: Murali Kartik, James Dalrymple

Northamptonshire: Monty Panesar, Richard Dawson, Jason Brown

Nottinghamshire: Graeme Swann, Rob Ferley

Somerset: Cameron White, Ian Blackwell, Wes Durston

Surrey: Harbhajan Singh, Chris Schofield, Ian Salisbury

Sussex: Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq, Ollie Rayner

Warwickshire: Paul Harris, Alex Loudon

Worcestershire: Gareth Batty

Yorkshire: Adil Rashid, Mark Lawson.

That's a list of just about every spinner picked as a frontline bowler in first-class cricket this year, give or take a few insignificant names. Out of them, which attacks would you pick ahead of Doshi - Schofield - Salisbury (or a combination of two of those bowlers) to bowl out a side on the last day? Lancashire, Sussex, Hampshire, certainly, although that is based almost purely on Murali, Mushtaq and Warne, perhaps Northants with a full strength side. Only Essex and Lancashire really have a rounded attack boasting two quality spinners. Doshi could fit in all bar a few of those county's first-team squads, probably as a second spinner in most cases, as a first spinner in some.

I'd say Lancashire with Murali and Keedy (who is extremely underated imo). Also Warne and Udal possibly and maybe Kaneria, Middlebrook and Phillips. Croft and Cosker are also pretty good as well and Mushtaq and an on form Saqlain.

So we agree, and therefore Doshi could break into most county lineups. Which shows how strong the Surrey attack is.

Trouble is, Croft and Cosker usually only get to bowl once at the moment and spend more time trying to dig in after collapses than attacking with big totals to defend.
