Congratulations to otis Gibson.I find it ironic that in a season where the Windies Test bowling ranged from average to pathetic that an ex WI player should achieve this - and he's at it again. He can't beat Jim Laker - can he? Benkenstein trying to help him by bringing on Plunkett to reduce the chance of a wicket falling at the other end  to think at the start of the summer this guy was playing for England but yesterday the likes of Styris and Benkenstein bowled but he didn't....

Gutted that the rain stopped Kent from earning a thoroughly well-deserved victory against Warwickshire, but what an encouraging performance - they really played a great game. 3 centurions in the first innings, including a club record 8th wicket stand of 177 between Jones and Arafat, and McLaren showing his worth to the club with 5/24 as Warwickshire were bowled out for 107. He then took the first three wickets at the top of the order in their second innings as well - surely if the rain had held off for another hour we'd have had a victory.

Still, it bodes well for the rest of the season. If we survive in the Championship and get promoted in the Pro40 it will have been a good season. Getting to the final of the 20:20 and potentially winning it would be a huge bonus, but even if we lost to Sussex, it will still have been a vast improvement in that form of the game.

Somerset are giving a trial to Omari Banks in a couple of 2nd XI matches this week, with a view to signing him next season; I see this as a kick in the teeth for both Suppiah and Durston. Any other thoughts on the matter?

Why Suppiah? If anything, it's a death knell to Munday...or even Steffan Jones. Banks isn't a good enough to threaten Suppiah/Durston. (As sad as that may sound.)

What's happened to Suppiah this season?. He did pretty well last season so I don't understand why he's hardly played a match this season.

Great news IMO.

Well, with a 1st choice team of:

Trescothick
Edwards
Langer
Hildreth
White
Blackwell
Trego
Kieswetter
Jones
Caddick
Willoughby

there isn't really a place for him! Anyway, if either White or Blackwell are injured, Durston's viewed as the better replacement.

He hasn't been signed, he's only on a trial. Anyway, he has a British passport I do believe.

Dentists in the area will be happy with the increase in business.
