I lost so much respect for Federer in this match (well, in the 4th set really). I know the situation was high pressure but he threw dead set the most pathetic hissy fit, far out.

I don't like either player but it was a great final.

Nah, opposite for me. Showed he was actually human.

(Assuming you're talking about the discussion after the ball that was out but Hawkeye claimed it barely touched the line. Unless something happened after he went 0-4 down, ate dinner then.)

Utter, utter champion.

this is turning out to be a classic rivalry with nadal improving out of sights on grass and now clearly looks the 2nd best on grass to federer's 2nd best on clay....

That was an amazing final. Best since 2001. Nadal really stepped it up and has showed he is far from just a clay courter like some wrongly accuse him of. Federer really served well when down those 2 break points twice in the 5th set, I thought he was in deep trouble. Amazing game of tennis.
This entire paragraph is basically dire. People don't like the Williams sisters because all they basically have is power, which is why when they came on the scene around 2000 they won all the time because women's tennis before then was much more of a technique thing. They literally blasted players like Hingis out the of the game.
Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic's game isn't all about power?

Oh wait they're hot though.

And you obviously haven't heard of Monica Seles either. She came along before the Williams sisters had even started high school.

I hate the Williams sisters for the exact reason Mitchell said, but I also hate Sharapova and Ivanovic for those reasons. It's just slow ugly tennis and is really boring.

Rafael Nadal is just amazing. He is so exciting and entertaining yet so cool. IMO He is the most exciting player to watch since Boris Baker. I am back to watching Tennis again.

He's the best thing to happen to tennis in a very very very long time. People are only starting to realise it, but he's an absolute gem.

Maybe that has something to do with performances on other surfaces . I watched French Open because of him but didn't care for his performance on other surfaces untill this Wimbledon. I hope he does well and makes it tough for Roger Federer. Tennis needs Federer/Nadal Rivalry.

Yeah Nadal's rivalry vs. Federer last year mainly consisted of their exploits on clay, and in Masters tournaments on hard court. Nadal hinted at what he can do on grass in the final of Wimbledon last year when he not only took a set off Federer, but also probably outplayed Federer in the third but wasn't able to win it, and then lost in 4 sets.

Now however, even with Nadal's relatively mediocre performance at the Aus Open, the rivalry is well and truly set to take off. Nadal needs a good showing at the US though. He needs to at least make the semi of a hard court grand slam.

Totally agree with you though :)

It struck me as quite similar to the way Borg won his fifth Wimbledon title. I wonder if Nadal can do a McEnroe and win it next year.

As for Henin, you have to admit Jono she's done well for someone who's 5'6.
