Haha, it was clearly "in jest" as Richard would say. But my grandmother was really born in Yorkshire.

Northants seems to be the closest to where my mother grew up in Dereham, and there's no hatred for it here like there is for Essex (for some reason) so it's firming as the favourite for my support, lol.

Slightly random, but if I lived in Norfolk, what would be the logical first class team for me to support? Essex and Northamptonshire look likely candidates geographically, but does Norfolk have connections with other counties that would make people in the area prone to support any specific team?

I live in Norfolk half the year, and the guys I know from the county don't really seem to have any logical side that they support, they follow whichever side takes their fancy. Thing is Northampton is one of the least characterful counties in England, there is little sense of Northamptonshire as an individual entity, whereas most of the counties have something about them that makes them unique, whether it be accent or heritage. Most people in Devon support Somerset, though I have family ties to Essex rather than any real ties down here. You may as well toss a coin.

I think even the ECB 's pitch inspectors would have sympathy for Worcestershire's plight if it is a dodgy wicket but we might not find out for a while - no play till 3pm at the earliest (no surprise. IMO Worcs should have moved it to Kiddy) and if Kent get little play out of this match maybe you'll feel the same. Meanwhile anyone who saw the state of OT for the 20/20 game that should have been on Friday won't be surprised at the lack of play (Well done Sky. Nothing to watch while most of the country is playing)

So crap - first day of meaningful domestic cricket in weeks and it's rained off in Worcestershire. Meanwhile, we've had the best day of the summer so far in the south - it's been beautiful down here. So annoying

I feel sorry for Worcestershire, but to be honest it's not Kent's problem that New Road is in such a bad condition. If they had nowhere else to play the game then fair enough, but they could have played at Kidderminster, or at Beckenham. It's not right that Kent should lose the opportunity to score championship points because of this, especially as Worcestershire have been so crap this year - they're one of the few teams we could actually have beaten.

Oh the brilliance, make that 3 for Saker.

Glad to see James Foster making a double ton, he's not been in top form form in the Championship so far this season, that'll help a lot hopefully.

Great effort by Essex, James Foster with a double century and quickfire centuries to both Andy Bichel and Graham Napier. Very disappointed RTD couldn't make hay on this wicket though, wouldn't mind seeing Samit Patel score a few. The game is interestingly poised, Kaneria should have a big day tomorrow.
