Last person in the tournament that needed a walk-over, just making his route to a 5th Wimbledon easier.

Ah well Monday should still be an awesome day for tennis with all the matches scheduled.

Serena Williams is a dead set champion.

Down a double break (2-5) in the 2nd set vs. Hantachova, she comes back to 5-5, and then her calf completely dies on her and she is left yelping in pain on the court. Despite almost literally playing one one leg, she manages to hold serve and take the set into a tie-break, and hold on long enough for the rain to come.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the rain delay she comes back from 2-4 down in the tie-break and wins in straight sets.

Never seen anyone in so much pain on the court for such a long time to be honest. Was disturbing to see.

Nice delaying tactics by Williams, yes. :p (And awful touch of sportsmanship of Hantuchova to not make her run.)

Loving the Söderling v Nadal clash. Went as follows...

Saturday: warm-up, 10 minutes, off again
Monday: Nadal wins the first set and goes a break up at 4-3 in the second before rain. Three hours' break in play. Nadal wins 6-4 when they come back. Söderling takes four successive games for a 5-3 lead, then squanders it and it's a tie-break, where Nadal takes a 4-2 lead, then led 7-6 before forehanding it just out of the ground. More rain; an hour's worth.
Söderling wins a couple of balls after the break, keeps holding his first serve, and takes the fourth 6-4. However, Nadal goes 2-0 up.

Tuesday: It took till 16.40 before they actually got on court. Söderling breaks back with the first two balls of the morning, then gets to 2-2 before rain...then goes on, 4-4, more rain.

Finally Nadal wins. Gave us all a fright, because we can't have someone like Soderling getting through to the fourth round. That forehand is as ugly as anything I've ever seen.

yep...a lot of gamesmanship from serena there...and even after coming back from the delay although a better(and craftier) player than hantuchova would have found a way to win that match...

Hantuchova attempted a drop shot, and that just pissed Serena off more from what she said in the media. That was the catalyst of her going nuts in the 3rd set.

Anyway Henin knocked Serena out in 3 today. Great match. Henin vs. Venus in the final I think, unless Ivanovic has something to say about it.

yeah she attempted one drop shot, she should have gone for more...

as for henin's win, typical serena post-match sore-loser response that she was playing at 40 - 50% and that had she been playing at 100%, she would have definitely won..utter hogwash, she was moving quite well, i watched the first and second set and there was no visible slowing down due to any injury, the commentators, ted robinson, john mcenroe and mary carillo said the same...henin's variety, her defense against serena's power and her consistency on both forehand and backhand won her the match....

on another note, venus, who has looked totally inconsistent and shaky throughout completely turns it on and obliterates sharapova...

That was the first time Henin ever beat Serena on a non-clay surface. Serena wasn't 100% fit, I think thats obvious, because she tried to end points earlier than she normally does. The commentators we got in Australia made clear that Serena wasn't battling as she normally does, and her hand kept coming off the racquet when she played her backhand, with her hand/finger injury.

That being said, Henin played a great match and deserved to win.

Regarding the men's, as much as I love Nadal, I reckon Youzhny is a good bet tonight. He's a bogey player against Nadal, and that Soderling match would have screwed Raf up big time.

Hewitt looks so shaky on serve when he's serving below 60%. Can't see him winning from here, serve is shocking.

In other news, that backhand from Baghdatis on match point was ridiculous.

yeah i heard about the strained thumb stuff later, the williams sisters always have excuses but no way was she just 40 - 50% fit, she played way better than that...it's just that her post-match comments were so crass and insulting to henin...she tried to cover it up by saying that henin played one of her best matches but even that was in a patronizing vein...i.e, she was implying that henin had to play at her best to beat a 50% fit serena...

Firstly, DJOOOOOOOOOOOOKOVIC! Suck **** Hewitt! I love Novak, what a kid. Can't wait for the Djokovic v Nadal rivalry to blossom 5 years from now.

And speaking of the Raf, what a come back. One of the most mentally strong tennis players I've ever seen at such a young age.
