Don't want to sound too ****y & under-rate the windies performance thus far, but i honestly do expect England to come back with a strong revivial 2moro..

With Strauss still in now with Collingwood and Bell, and Prior to come I would expect us to at least match the Windies score tbo.

Exactly, most people on here would be salivating if KP hit that for four. Hoggard was the irresponsible idiot, KP shouldn't have been at the crease if Matthew did his job and saw out the night.
Does not excuse the shot by any means. If the nigh****chman gets out, that doesn't give you the excuse to go out there thinking "I shouldn't be here so I'm void of any responsibility" - fair enough if he just gets out, but he threw it away.

Not exactly dire that is it?
Watched him play lately? It's not the stats, it's the attitude. The way he has been batting on this tour is a disgrace to every opener to have played the game, and the way he's been getting out of late suggests he should be batting at around #10.

Every batsman goes thorugh periods where they don't get it right as Strauss was before this innings. That's no reason to call them dire though.

Going through a bad trott like Strauss is totally different to just being plain stupid about it like Gayle though. I'm quite possibly biased as I call him dire even when he does well ITBT, but the way he's going about things at the moment is hardly acceptable for an opening batsman.

He certainly should be doing better I'll give you that WRT playing as an opening bat should.

Gayle will often look "irresponsible" or "stupid" when he gets out because when he knows he's being beaten halfway through a shot, he goes through with it doubly as hard, hoping that if he does edge it, it will take some catching. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. What it does mean though is that it makes him look more irresponsible than he actually is.

Yeah, he needs to take a leaf out of Tiger Woods book and pull out of the shot at the top of his back-lift

Nah, don't really buy into that. Quite often, the shot he intends on playing originally is quite obviously not on.

Thought both KP's and Hoggys shots were irresponsible given the time and especially in Hoggys case, the role he had to play. The ball was swinging and the track is slow, so both shots had a degree of risk to them, especially considering they were in the very early stages of their innings. Pretty average cricket.

However, I do think with the batting we have to come, we can surpass the WI total.
